Re: Jurassic World

So who thinks that any sequels

Will revolve around the original premise of Jurassic World with dinosaurs being trained as living weapons and equipped with lasers and rockets and humans riding them?

Based on how it ended and the loose ends it's the only way a sequel can go. Whether a movie based on this idea would be liked by fans is another thing. The general audience may like the idea...

this is heading towards that direction. heck, its supposed to be in that direction but they didn't have the balls to do it on this movie.

either way, they should've just dropped the jurassic park tie up and do its own thing...

im cool with domesticated dinos...if this was the flintstones movie.

but this is jurrasic park.

temple run dude jumped in the raptor pit unarmed!? he should be dino chow.

You've seen the film, right?

Re: Jurassic World

Is is just me, or are a lot of people judging this movie on what they think happens in it, rather than what actually happens in it?

That is literally Dino Riders.

Certainly seems that way.

The trailers don't do the film justice - which may or may not be a bad thing. Makes the film all that much better when you see it.

Re: Jurassic World

I'm confused. Pretty much everyone pre determined that this film was going to be terrible. How can people be enjoying it?

I didn't. I was always excited and picked it as my MOTY before I even saw it due to how much the first two mean to me. It's incredable. And is my MOTY no need to see Star Wars to decide that for me.

That seems to be the case

that's why it ended up being better than I expected

2 of my friends almost did although it was a family with kids so I wasn't gonna go there. Apparently someone else was in their seats so they were told to take ours. The mother went out and got a staff member who told us ''tough ***t'' basically because we were late.

:slap people...

Re: Jurassic World

Jesus H (Chris Pratt on a roll):

It was looking pretty good on Friday that Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World would be beating the previous June opening weekend record set by Man of Steel when it reported $18.5 million just from Thursday previews but business was so insane on Friday that it’s now being reported that the Chris Pratt-starring blockbuster has grossed an estimated $82.8 million in 4,273 theaters.

That’s just over $19,000 per theater and it would make it the third highest opening and single day ever after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2‘s $91.1 million and Avengers: Age of Ultron‘$84.4 million, putting it ahead of Marvel’s The Avengers $80 million back in 2012. The latter currently holds the opening weekend record with $207.4 million.

That puts it well ahead of the previous June opening and single day record held by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse with $68.5 million from June 30, 2010 and also ahead of the $75.7 million opening day for The Dark Knight Rises, which ended up with $160.9 million in its opening weekend in 2012.

Based on the Thursday numbers, we originally were thinking Jurassic World would end up with $130 million but considering how much bigger the movie was on Friday, it’s now looking closer to $180 million or even more! Could it make a play for the $200 million plus opening of Avengers? It’s become one of those insane box office phenoms that only come about once every couple years and apparently, everybody is going out to see Universal Pictures’ revived franchise. With it already scoring an “A” Cinemascore, the sky is the limit for Jurassic World right now.

Re: Jurassic World

I read that and thought "82 million, that's a pretty respectable opening weekend, twice what Fury Road made," then I saw that they were just talking about what it earned on FRIDAY. :google

Re: Jurassic World

Good to see the franchise doing well again. I know any potential sequels will be much different to the Jurassic Park we all want but it's the only way of getting a dinosaur movie.

Re: Jurassic World

I think they have set themselves up to make a sequel more in line with that 2007 script review I posted a few pages back. Basically the scattered dinosaurs from the Indominous rampage (particularly the flyers) take up homes in the wild on the mainland and start picking off humans at random. The opening scene featured pteranodons scooping up kids and parents from a Little League baseball game. Then Owen gets called back in to lead a squad of super Raptors to hunt down the stray dinos. We'll see.

Obviously we already saw a version of that in JW so they might try and go a totally different route again. One things for sure, the "amusement park" days are OVER. No matter how high concept they get, gun-toting Raptors, etc., I just will NOT buy that the public would ever embrace a fully functioning park ever again after what happened in this latest movie.

Re: Jurassic World

I'm glad this is doing so well. It's a fantastic, fun, exciting film, and makes a refreshing change from all the comic book movies of late.

Re: Jurassic World

While not outright contradicting anything from The Lost World or JP3 this movie did seem to be yet another "ignore all films in the series except the first one" sequel.
