Re: Jurassic World

Chaser, you should have said:

Oh my....

Re: Jurassic World

chaser fan? spawn board chaser fan?

No idea what that is.

Wow indeed. B. D. Wong has had a very good year. He was a highlight in Focus and was very charismatic as a seasoned and jaded Dr. Wu.

Yeah, it was cool to see that sinister side of Dr. Wu. Also weird because I'm used to seeing B.D. Wong in 'good guy' roles (Oz, SVU).

Chaser, you should have said:

Oh my....

:lol Yeah my bad, was too shocked by the racism.

Dimorphodon. Not a made up dinosaur.

The only hybrid in the film was Indominous.

Really!!! I never knew. A little confusing for the average viewer (me) watching a "sliced" movie and seeing what looked like a T. Rex head on wings!! I'm 41 and I have never seen that dinasaur before.

Re: Jurassic World

I have a feeling a lot of Freaks here -- especially from Batman or Aliens threads -- are just not going to like this movie. It IS very silly and could have easily tipped into campy nonsense... apparently did for some.

I do believe its about your expectations for this kind of movie. I had zero going in, except I did think it was going to suck overall. So maybe low expectations are key for true enjoyment.

Re: Jurassic World

now you were joking. You might like Pratt. You might even love him. How do I know?

Pratt's been great so far. Of course he's not Harrison Ford. He does have a juvenile (for lack of a better word) cockiness that comes through in all of his current characters. So in that regard he's more like Val Kilmer from back in his Top Secret/Real Genius/Top Gun days. Kilmer broke free from that in the 90's. It'll be interesting to see if Pratt follows suit as he ages.

You aren't the only one. My 8 year old daughter was trying to follow the mayhem and literally leaned over and asked if they had given Velociraptors wings. My 5 year olds mind was totally blown in the final battle scene because

the way the Mososaurus lept out of the water and landed on its belly he thought it was a giant alligator that we'd never seen until that moment.

:lol

Yeah, this one goes back to Gremlins (the original) or Kingdom of the Spiders type movies. Where the silliness kind of takes you out of the movie (but deliberately so) but at the same time the violence is somewhat disturbing. I could see how that style would be very oft putting to those who grew up on Predators and tactical batsuits. I feel sorry for you guys, thanks to JW this style now gets to imprint on my kids as those former films did for me in my youth. :yess:

I remember the Jaws films being the first times I ever was exposed to the concept of people screaming underwater. When JW was over my daughter asked me why the one lady was screaming instead of trying to hold her breath. Obviously that scene was something she pondered for a good while after it happened.

That was one mean a$$ looking flying dinosaur. I initially thought it might have been a hybrid as well until I remembered that she had said Indominous was the first. I'm not up on my Dino's but had thought to look it up since it wasn't as well known as the pterodactyl. Now I don't have to.

Re: Jurassic World

WOW!

This took me by surprise!

Holy **** WOW!

JP1 is still king, but this was the 1st worthy sequel.

I wish I felt like this when I left my 1st FR viewing.

What an incredibly fun and thrilling movie that was for all the reasons others have already posted here!

Great heroic moment at the end!

Kid actors were great.

Bryce was awesome in this.

I'll get into details after dinner.

What a shocker this one was.

It was so good that talking kids and crying baby didn't ruin it for me.

Re: Jurassic World

I just watched it. I dunno how I feel about it. I think it might be so dumb that it's amazing?

The first two are still my faves.
