Re: Jurassic World

WOW!

This took me by surprise!

Holy **** WOW!

JP1 is still king, but this was the 1st worthy sequel.

I wish I felt like this when I left my 1st FR viewing.

What an incredibly fun and thrilling movie that was for all the reasons others have already posted here!

Great heroic moment at the end!

Kid actors were great.

Bryce was awesome in this.

I'll get into details after dinner.

What a shocker this one was.

It was so good that talking kids and crying baby didn't ruin it for me.

:clap :clap :clap

Re: Jurassic World

The constant heavy handed references throughout this just made me wish I was watching the original.

Re: Jurassic World

Ok, where to start.

Why did this movie work?

Because it straddled the fun/thrilling - cheesy/dumb line like a boss!

It could've so easily tipped over into the nonesensical eye rolling side with just the slightest of nudge, BUT IT DIDN'T!

That's the secret weapon of this movie, it remained charming instead of annoying.

The fast pace helped this movie instead of hindering it.

Everyone here knows that evil Comcast owns Universal, right?

Holy crap, Comcast using Verizon as the butt of a joke on corporation take over was LOL for me.

This movie proves that a fun thrill ride which embraces its wackiness can easily overcome any short falls that can arise from cardboard characters.

Speaking of which, the character arc for that CEO was hilarious.

Imagine the CEO of Comcast flying a helicopter to attack a monster on the loose. :lol

Not only does that show you that you have to be an eccentric wack job to be funding and running a dinosaur company after the events of JP1, it also shows you that Hammond is still king of the wackos, at least he made it off the island.

That ladies death, yowza!

Can't wait to take my wife and son to this.

Re: Jurassic World

I liked it well enough to want to go again(didn't feel that way with Avengers....still only once for that one). Saw it at an early screening on Wednesday night in Burlington (Trevorrow's home town), only it was in 3D, which always gives me a headache.

Seeing it again tonight in 2D...while I caught a lot of the in-screen jokes and references(my personal favorite was the whole "The Birds" riff of that mall aerial attack)...I want to ride with the story more this time out...

The things I expected to bug me really didn't, most especially the kids...the tyke from IM3 seemed pretty genuine and the horny-toad older brother seemd alright too (although his instant-mechanic turn seemd a little too "easy" there)...

Bryce-Howard was really irritating to me...but that was probably more the ucky character she was playing...I just had a hard time buying her in this. It was almost like she was in another movie...awkward and odd.

Pratt on the other hand....he's become quite the movie star here. While the Rock dependably lumbers through his various roles being variations of himself,
Pratt does the same but seems more approachable somehow. He carried me through this movie...he's got magnetism and presence....and if what comes out in the media so far is to be believed, sounds like a decent guy as well. He keeps this up and he's going go far. Here he is already locked into two mega-franchises (and possibly a third if those Diz-Indy rumors end up true)....go Pratt!

The one thread of comments going on here that makes me chuckle is the one where folks are complaining how this movie trades too much on nostalgia and recycling moments from the earlier movie. Well, if that's bothering you here, just what until December when Diz Star Wars hits....I guarantee that's gonna be one long retread-nostalgia blast that'll make Jurassic World look like the most original thing ever.....then the complaints will really start rolling in.

In the meantime...I'm gonna go spend another evening with Pratt and his raptors.... :)

Imax 3D was amazing.

Not until you reminded me. The Verizon Wireless Indominous Rex. :rotfl

:lol

This is all great news to me. Can't wait to see this.

Just roll with it and enjoy the ride.

Yes, I just can't help but grin about how the movie could be so crazy but somehow remain "legit" as a thrill ride. I don't know how they did it. :lol

I mean, did the head of InGen security really offer his hand, fingers first, to the the one Velociraptor that hated his guts? And everyone else, including Owen, was all "hold on, I want to see how this plays out..." :lol

So crazy. But so awesome.

Kingpin of only the concrete jungle. :lol

I always do man. I'm pretty easy to please when comes to movies...not much of a critic.

:duff

When will you be seeing it?

Will you be going with a date?

:lol
