It's a great summer flick with dinosaurs eating people.
The experience at the theatre was great, not sure what else was to be expected. It's not a milestone of Cinema, just a fun, well crafted movie.
I guess that's the way I see it, too. It's a fun summer movie, but it's definitely not a crowning achievement in cinema.
Granted, I've seen all of the JP movies in theaters, but the "magic" of this one was just lost to me. I really got the impression that the movie attempted to portray a real-life corollary about how dinosaurs were getting boring (both for the fictional visitors of Jurassic World, as us as the audience), and they needed a hybrid to keep things interesting for the movie. But, as a viewer, I found that highly patronizing.
I can't say I liked any of the acting either. The chemistry between Star-Lord the red head was especially forced on a number of occasions.
For the most part I agree, except about JP3 and TLW. I still think this is the better sequel because it recaptures the ideas that make Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park and not a dinosaur action movie. Aside from the park, it directly deals with the effects of man's tampering and playing god. TLW scraped that with the hunters thinking they were superior, but the overall themes in JW were far better than the mindless action of the other sequels. I-Rex and Wu > Naturally evolving dinosaurs with feathers.
I think this movie was just trying to recreate JP1 for a modern audience. There's the two kids, like Tim and Rex. Star-Lord was basically an amalgamation of Dr. Grant and Muldoon. The sarcastic nerd with the JP shirt in the computer room, was foretelling the events that would take place - sort of like Ian Malcolm. Then, there was Henry Wu doing his research and experimentation on Raptors again
.
Nothing's wrong with trying to measure up to the original film. But, it just seems like it was trying too hard, and there were so many elements to this movie that just fell flat, and didn't recapture the charm of JP1.
