No matter how impressive JW is doing, everything is weak sauce when compared to Avatar.

That's a horrible lineup of movies. Shows that it doesn't take much to amuse the kids today.

Can't see the top 2 ever changing. I doubt Avatar 2 will beat Avatar's box office.

I hope that theory is correct because I'm actively thinking about the new Ghostbusters movie right now.

I'm thinking its more likely to be some romantic drama closer to Titanic than Star Wars. Certainly it will never be a comedy as comedy doesn't travel well.

E.T. was #1 for 16 weekends in 1982 but never more than six weekends at a time. Every once in a while some new movie would open and beat it for one or more weeks but then eventually E.T. would go back to the top.

Tootsie opened in late '82 and then dominated for *13* straight weekends.

Looks like Avatar was #1 its first eight weekends.
