Yeah, the idea of Jurassic Park was to bring these amazing animals from the past back to life. Humans just weren't prepared to manage them. Just because we can play God, doesn't mean we should. That's the message I got anyway. It wasn't about genetic experimenting with dinosaurs. There is certainly a place for a bizarre idea like Dino-human hybrids, but its not with JP.
I've always loved the balance of beauty and terror of the dinosaurs in the original JP. That scene where they first get to the island and see the brontosaurus is jut glorious. You really wish Jurassic Park was real then (and frankly, I still do). And then you have the scenes with the T-rex and raptors and you gain a great deal of respect for the power of these beasts. Very scary when something that big, strong, fast, and smart is wanting to eat you.
JP was really a modern day version of Frankenstein - doing the impossible of bringing something back to life and not being prepared for the aftermath. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Its something that is oh so tempting, but potentially very disastrous.
