I have the following lines I am collecting

1. SS Star Wars 12" ( Jabba set up made me go beyod JUST Jedi/Sith like I was doing )
2. SS Star Wars OT only PF's ( Will get Maul too, but no other PT )
3. GG Star Wars OT only Busts ( going back and getting ones I missed )
4. GG Star Wars OT only ( other than Maul ) 1/6 scale statues

A few odds and ends still on order like the PF Lurtz exclusive ( canceled Frodo )

Done buying the following lines

1. Code 3 Ships now that my X Wing is on the way.
2. X-Men medium statues ( night crawler on order, but he is the last one I want )
3. GG Matrix line
4. LOTR pollystone ( May go back for Ocr Archer, Orc Swordsman and Uruk Hai scout/swordsman, but nothing else )

As for selling things. Hard to say. IF I sold anything it would be my LOTR SS busts, but I have gone back and forth about those so I am keeping them until I really KNOW I want to sell them.

I totally understand why people are cutting back and selling or cancelling orders...but its really too bad.

I hope that the amazing wealth of SW items doesn't undermine some other fabulous lines (like 12" LOTR).

I think the LOTR 12" line can co-exist better with whatever else is out there including Weta, maquettes, busts, etc.

SW 12" is going to be HUGE and will overwhelm those trying to keep up with everything.

I wonder if SS is really making a killing on Jabba...or if people are just cancelling preorders to compensate? Meaning, just moving money around. Sideshow is really cool about cancellations, but they can't be happy about it.

In any event, the new price-point of these kinds of 12" pieces are taking away from other lines. Just read the posts above.

Don't get me wrong -- I ordered Jabba and all the second they were offered. I guess it just makes me nervous when I see so many people forced to sell off or cancel other items, particularly of lines I also collect. For instance, T2 is a slower line to begin with, and now people are starting to cancel their T-1000 and T-800. That can't be good for the line's bottom line.

Yeah, I kind of have to agree. I don't collect any other lines but I am deciding what to get rid of from the rest of the SW line so I can get Jabbas throne (I got him and crumb for sure.) I am sure there will be enough wait listers to fill in for any of the canceled items from other lines since there will be a lot that don't collect SW but I do agree that SS may not be too keen on seeing all the cancelations.

I know I had to make some cancelations to make up for the Jabba order...

And both my Terminators were among the canceled.

I don't think this will hurt Sideshow in the long run, because for every PF or 1/6 cancelation there is another happy waitlister!

I recall Dusty weighing in this very same issue by saying "you need to separate what you want from what you really want". With so much stuff coming out, there is no other choice. I agree with most of you guys that paring down or canceling lines to afford others is what is going on a lot these days...

And that's the rub for me. I will not cancel any 12" LOTR Figs because I truly believe they will be the best 12" line SSC releases but when you have PF's and other big ticket items crashing your cards at the same time it really gets tough to let an entire line of exclusive pre-orders slide. Here's how I look at it though, none of this stuff is going away, if and when cash flow permits, you can re-visit these items again in the secondary market.

There are always good deals to find if you are diligent... I bought a Nazi Kroenen a few months ago for 110 and one sold for 340 last week. There are also the "mint but loose" or damaged box options available as Justinluck says, you can buy an entire line for 33% discount that way if you can live with it...

But,with too much too soon, some stuff has to go and will.

I agree. In the end it all balances out and a big (HUGE) chunk of my collecting dollar still goes to Sideshow.

Exactly! It's all about deciding what you want most and being patient. Quality over quantity is something all of us will have to deal with soon enough. Some of us sooner (because of space and/or money) rather than later.

Just my thougts

I am waiting for the exclusive lurtz to be converted for months now and even if the first 750 people cancel their orders, there are more 750 people are waiting there on the wait list and may be more.

Therefore I do not think SS is getting hurt by cancellations (or are they??)

Exactly!! Sideshow makes products in such limited numbers that there will almost always be three people on the Wait List for every one person who orders. So, if someone ditches a PF order in favor of Jabba, there'll be someone on the Wait List who's not buying Jabba to pick up the slack.

So in a way, Sideshow is helping themselves by making cancellations so easy. It makes this moving orders/money around easy, and the Wait List ensures another buyer will pick up the cancellations.

I had to cancel alot because of financial issues. I've only just canceled my Old West Ghost Rider PF, Mace 12", Maul 12", Droid Pack, Anakin 12", Evil Grin Rabbit, Scorpion Tail Rabbit, Boromir 12" and the Aragorn 12" :monkey2

And I'm about to cancel my Darth Vader Anakin 12" and Obi Wan 12" :monkey2

Summing it all up like that makes it even more painfull :monkey2
