Why though, just because of the updated effects?

78 is more engaging yet it has a ton less action than MOS.

MOS Krypton opening is so bad. There is nothing there that remotely comes close to the legendary 78 opening.

78 has a clear message yet it's more riveting than the convoluted MOS.

The definitive origin of Superman was done in 78. It explained everything perfectly. So much so that MOS even used elements from it. Pa Kents death, his introduction to Jorel and getting his costume was all derived from the 78 movie. Kent is laughable in MOS because the whole town knows who he is, and they kill him off in BvS, so theirs no point to him anymore.

Yes very strange that they're going to have "Clark Kent" die and come back at the exact same times as Superman. You'd think they'd be more discreet about Clark's death.

I liked 78 Sups and SMII when I was little, but there was also nothing else to compare it to, other than the comics and cartoons. I understood the live action films had certain limitations that the cartoons and comics didn't have, so it was ok for the films to be more grounded, and to focus less on the sci-fi elements.

Superman Returns was very disappointing because it wasn't trying to be new or current, it was just rehashing the 70's Superman, but with an ugly costume and an actor that looked like Superboy, not a man. Plus it was so boring and even the plot and the villain's motivation was dated, like something form a 70's comic book.

MOS, despite all the flaws like Zod being a jobber, the tornado scene, and the redundant/anti climatic Zod fight, it gave me something that's closer to the modern comic book Superman from the last 25 years. BVS took a big dump on the MOS ending, unfortunately....imo.

I don't blame people for liking of preferring the Reeve films. He was the only cinematic Superman for 34 years...3 decades, and even when Singer made a new version, the whole movie was a fan film/tribute to Reeve, so people are almost indoctrinated to see the Donner film as the "definitive" version.

How can they bring him back? They had a body and everything!

Wow! I opened a can of worms! :lol

Superman 1 and 2 were the **** when I was a kid, but I'll admit they haven't aged well. Supes kills a powerless Zod in superman 2, I'm not sure why more don't take issue with that, he wasnt a threat to anyone at that point, but he proceeds to crush his hand then tosses him too his doom. He even smiles while doing it..In man of steel he snaps Zods neck out of neccessity but everyone cries fowl. He doesn't smile after killing zod maybe that's why people don't like it

I wish we could've seen Routh and Spacey play new versions of the characters instead of being limited to only how Reeve and Hackman played them.

Also, UNO cards.
