It was pretty early, and [Christopher] Nolan and I had long conversation about it, a really great, sort of philosophical conversation about it. He was really cool because he played an amazing devil’s advocate about why not to do it, and then in the end was like, ‘No you’re right, it’s better to do it.’

We had a version that we talked about where [Superman] just—this isn’t it, but where he got frozen and shot into space or something, so he’s kinda gone. Because one of the big things I wanted to make sure of was that as we went into Justice League, Bruce Wayne was the one who was gathering the Justice League. I thought it was really important to have Bruce Wayne be the samurai who goes and finds the other samurai, that to me was important. And with Superman around it’s kinda hard, because Superman’s Superman so it’s kinda hard for Bruce to be like, ‘Yeah I wanna put a Justice League together’. It’s like, ‘Okay, but maybe Superman should be doing that. You’re just a guy. You’re a cool guy, don’t get me wrong, but you’re just a guy.

DC Fan With Terminal Cancer Asks to Not See Justice League EarlyOLEDO, Ohio — A DC superfan with terminal bone cancer requested today that Warner Bros. not show him the new Justice League movie before he dies.
Julian Scoville, a fifteen old sophomore at Toledo High School, has been reading DC comics since he was a kid—which is why when DC offered to show him the new movie, knowing he might pass away before it is released, he adamantly refused.
“When I first saw that Cyborg poster for Justice League, I took the news harder than the doctor telling me I had six months to live,” said Scoville, according to close sources. “I honestly thought it was fan art. It’s like a kid got a copy of Photoshop 6 off Pirate Bay and made a print to sell at the world’s ****tiest local comic con.”
“I know this is like the one cool thing I get to do with my Make-a-Wish, but honestly, I’d rather just take a nap or something,” he added, sinking into his hospital bed.

Those close to the scene report that director Zack Snyder tried to lift Scoville’s spirits by surprising him in his hospital room, but Scoville was not impressed.
“You think this is going to make me want to see Justice League? Sending Zack Snyder? The auteur of Sucker Punch?” Scoville scoffed to doctors. “Just increase my morphine and end it now.”
When representatives for DC asked Scoville if he’d rather meet Joss Whedon, he began screaming until they left the room.
After calming down, Scoville described in vivid detail the trauma of his condition. “Just a lot of pain and sickness. Exhaustion. The unending spectre of my own mortality hanging over me on a minute-by-minute basis as I am forced to witness it in totality.”
“It’s exactly how I imagine the Justice League movie will be and I don’t want to go through that again.”
Despite his bleak future, Scoville did say he has held onto some hope. According to those close to him, Scoville said, “At least I know I’ll die before HBO ruins the **** out Watchmen.”

That makes absolutely no sense especially since it contradicts Superman TRUSTING Batman to go save Martha Kent all on his own.
So Batman is good enough to be trusted to go on his own to save Superman’s mother in BvS BUT if Superman didn’t die all of a sudden Batman can’t be the one to go form the league, wut..why not?
No seriously i’m confused that was the SOLE reason for killing Superman off.
At least use the reason that hey “We killed off mopey and brooding Superman who is confused about his place in the world of mortals so that we can usher in the new and improved optimistic Superman!”
That would’ve made more sense, no?
Yeah should’ve listened to Nolan lol
You can hear the Batman theme.
Wow that 89 theme was fully out there in effect!
I have to ask this, is it sacrilegious to use that with a non Keaton Batman, what say you DiFabio.
It's really going to bother me, hearing Williams score for Superman because he already has a great theme and because it'll remind me of the Donner Superman, God those movies suck.
Who's this cheeseball villain? Is this "The Last Starfighter 2"?
True, the whole point of MOS was to reinvent Superman and finally move away from Reeve, and WB basically gave up on it because of BVS, to the point they'll even use the original Reeve theme. It's like a rock band that couldn't make it with original material, so they become a tribute band.
Battfleck and Hopeman are a tribute band. Even Battfleck's villain history is a ripoff. The whole exploding penguins joke is a reference to Batman Returns...
