Goes to show how inconsistent CGI can be. It doesn't necessarily follow a presumed path of improvement as time goes on.

Very true and no matter how good the technology is it still comes down to the skill of each animator and how much time they have to perfect their work. Even Davy Jones in AWE didn't look as good as he did in DMC. The tech obviously was there but the animators didn't knock it out of the park on their second go around.

It may be easier that the usual manual animation, but it IS manual. No different from when Disney cartoon animators were usin' recordings of actor's voice perfomance as reference. It's not the same as mocap, at all.
It's very different, but fiiiine, lets call it pseudo-mocap... PM for shot :lol

I'm telling you, the animation is already done for them, they only have to position the mesh points where the PM tells them to, key frame by key frame, they're not animating as much as they're literally copying coordinates from Nighy's mesh and adapting it to Davy's mesh.

Actual hand animation, from scratch, is what Pixar does, which is what they did with Steppenwolf, and that has never worked in live action, they need the real expressions.

Which is why perplexes me, they got a real actor for Steppenwolf, with an interesting face, and they didn't use him? :slap:

Yeah, I don't get it too. His face's perfect for the character.
I was expectin' them to go Ares route and have Hinds perform before green screen.

Many of the comments on this video say they think the original music for this scene works better...but I can't remember any of it :dunno

I think the original works better as well. They even kept the original eeeeeeeeeeeeeee sounds in before blowing up the floor.

Oh and they had a JL standy thing outside Thor, so had to take pic with my buds. To bad i didnt wear a superman shirt...

The CG in Ragnarok was fine and often great. I just wished they filmed on a real location or two (other than that one street corner in New York.)

Agree. Re-watched Predator last night and IMO that film holds up well - one reason bein' the real locations. I felt kinda wistful.

To me it was ****ing great. But maybe I just haven't seen BvS enough to feel any attachment to the music that's actually in it. I mean, as said, I can't remember anything other than Wonder Woman's theme and Luthor's bit. Even Zimmer's own Superman theme wasn't used to maximum effect in the film.

Exactly, me too, Ares came out great like that, btw I'm still expecting a figure of him, with his mustache and everything.

Is that your PS work? Looks much more interesting like that.

Happens almost every time I don't quote the post I'm responding to.

Lets see if it'll happen with this one....

What are you talking about? ;)

Anyway with regard to the Batman music I don't remember the music from the BvS warehouse scene but I do know that it didn't take me out of the scene with how distractingly out of place it was.
