One interesting thing about Thor Ragnarok or even thinking back to Batman Forever is just how easy it is for a superhero film to completely change the tone of an entire franchise with seemingly minimal effort.

Batman Returns was too dark and kinky? Okay just release Batman Forever which carries on as if things were *never* dark and non-family oriented. Were it not for the individual failings of the Schumacher films people would have just accepted it. Case in point Thor Ragnarok. He literally went from moping about his mother and brother's death in one film to full stand-up comedian in the next.

Thor 3 even took a moment to laugh with the audience about the failed drama of the previous film with that hilarious little play and then they just carried on as if Thor was always a comedic franchise. And that's all the DCEU has to do.

Open Justice League with some kids in super hero costumes pretending to fight in the street and then one of them says "Martha" which causes the other kid to crack up. Or have Cavill Superman in a bar where there's a TV recapping the destruction of Metropolis and some of the patrons say "why didn't he save more people?" to which Cavill replies "Oh he did..." *looks at audience* "off-screen..." *smiles and turns back to the bar.* You get the idea just own their previous failures instead of acting like it was all part of this supposed master plan of character evolution, have fun with it and move on.

They do make fun of previous installments in this movie.
the do you bleed line makes for a pretty good joke

Oh good! I didn't click on the spoiler but I'm glad to know that they aren't too proud to poke fun at themselves. I'm actually looking forward to this and will probably catch it this upcoming Sunday or Monday.

I just saw the video that crows was postin' pics from...
Wow, Dweebon's reshoots and crappy CGI are so obvious...
Action looks ok tho.

The fact that he does this CG smile while holdin' Batman by the face makes it even better! :lol

Really curious as to how the 3d conversion will look. This type of movie could really look great if done well. CGI is usually easier to swallow with well done 3d

Seems like the action retains Snyder's kinetic physicality.

Although there's a couple shots of Batfleck that make me doubt.

That Zack approved. I knew this would happen lol
You really think Snyder had a say? He left the movie. Reshoots and re-writes were 100% Whedon.

What did you know would happen? We've been doomsaying since Whedon came on board.

So, Rotten Tomatoes won't release the review aggregate yet, is embargo still on?

I find it funny, never realized that the Studio that made these DC movies, also partly owns Rotten Tomatoes. Funny because so many on here constantly accuse RT of harboring an unfair bias against DC.

A bad movie might only pull in only a few reviews and those could be from diehards who like it no matter what, so you get a bad movie with a high rating.

Conversely, a great movie might be boring to most -- like BR2049 -- and perhaps gets many poor ratings but the film might actually be good (depending on your point of view).

I really don't think RT alone makes decisions for people. I'm sure most people have 2-3 sources they trust and if all are in agreement, then that will sway them.

I've never known anyone in person that let a Rotten Tomatoes score influence their decision to see a movie or not. I've never even known anyone that let a movie review influence their decision to see a movie or not either.

get learned buckos

I know plenty of people who always mention the rottentomaotes score , but wouldn't know a good movie if it slapped them in the face.

Countless articles how Zack and Joss discussed what is to happen before his departure. That everything Joss did needed to be approved by the studio. Yeah. Zack had a say. He laid the groundwork. They had to follow. Im in no way against Zack's movies. But this "i hated that part so it has to be Joss" is ridiculous. We can only speculate.

Also,

"Since then, the debate has raged (this is the internet, after all) over how much influence Whedon’s reshoots would have on the final project, and with the film arriving in theaters this week, producer Charles Roven has revealed new details how much of the reshoots ended up in the final film. Well, kind of.

Here’s what he told The Washington Times:

“The goal is to make sure when you’re watching the movie, it all feels cohesive. That imprint that Joss had, some aspect of it is going to come out in the direction, but the actors are already pretty much down the road on their arcs. Let’s just say 80, 85 percent of the movie is what was originally shot. There’s only so much you can do with other 15, 20 percent of the movie.”

Ah, that's a little different than Snyder himself approving huh?

Do you really think Snyder had the last word when it came to ANY changes? Even over the studio's public desires of making it more like the MCU?

There's a difference between Snyder briefing Whedon, and Snyder taking the calls, it's naive to think Snyder had a say whatsoever, it's naive to think any Director makes any call over Studio decree. If anything, Snyder has only been a good sport with the studio all along. And even Snyder's detractors could agree with this.

You somehow think that 15% can't bing down the remainig 85%.

Especially when the original 85% was trimmed down even more.

I know a guy who only goes by rt scores. I keep telling him to not listen to rt and see other stuff.
