Re: Keaton Batman

Still looks awesome, thanks for sharing Wor-Gar, and Shawn said these are on Dragon bodies so I think that's the same. Do you know if the armor material is the same as we're getting? Nice to know it's still in good shape almost 5 years later.

Re: Keaton Batman

Damn, WG. That kicks all kinds of Ass. Awesome!

Now he awaits the Joker, gonna be a killer pair.

Re: Keaton Batman

OK, OK... :lol

Be gentle with me... this was Shawn's first "rubber"-suitted urethane BATMAN from back in ancient times, 2003...

He's built on a Dragon body I believe, so he's a bit more lanky than these new ones. The methods were all new for the first few figures (mine being the first figure made after Shawn's original practice prototype), but the principles have remained fairly the same over the years as you can tell.

Your's looks better than what we getting in my opinion! I like the headsculpt way more!

Thanks! And yes, it's still in great shape, so the urethane will last you guys a long time.

Uh-oh! Now I didn't expect that reaction. Thank you!

It's definitely a damn good figure. I paid a bit more back in the day when this was a new science. But whether it's better than the new one, well that's a matter of opinion. As I said, mine is lankier -- you can see it in the knees particularly.

I have to say, I really like the new ones Shawn is making. I was considering getting one myself, but figured mine was now a classic so... I'm good with him.

Praise to Shawn! He's been making killer Keatons for a long time!!!

Great to know. I'd have to see them side by side, but I don't see any significant difference in the HS from the one Shawn started rolling out for batch 2, other than the eyes on yours seem a bit more exposed/pronounced than the ones Shawn's been rolling out for the freaks. All a matter of preference, but I love how the eyes hide like in the film on mine. Even with the Power Loader coming soon, I don't think anything's going to sway me from feeling this is the best figure I've gotten this year, and I've got quite a few that would be contenders.

BTW, my cape has been folded back like that since I futzed him in 2003... and I'm not about to uncurl it now. Maybe when I get the Joker... :)

I know the HS is the same as mine, body same, armor pretty much same, same hands, boots... don't know about the cowl base, assuming it is same just the new cape is different. Although my Bat symbol is painted bright yellow and belt gold. Either way, It's a Classic!

Re: Keaton Batman

I hesitated revealing my pictures for just this reason -- people judging which one is better. They are all great! Amazing replica BATMANs.

He looks exactly like mine except for the cape...

Yeah, my cape is a vinyl material -- shinier on the outside, and more "dull" on the inside. It looks like cloth the way I have it folded back because you can only see the backside of it. Looks better when down over his shoulders -- but I thinbk Shawn's new material is much better.

The main difference are huge, the cowl is fairly much the same, seem tighter/smaller on Wor-Gar's... But the mouth is loads different. the dimple below the bottom lip is more defined, the whole chin area looks pointer on the whole,on the new sculpt and the lips have more of pout about them. There are different heads without quiestion, I just shot Shawn an email to confirm this...

Now don't get me wrong I think this is still one of the best figures I'll add to my collection this year, but there is a striking difference in the two sculpts from 2003 & 2007...

I just prefer the 2003 version is all... I'm looking forward to getting a shipping notice of shawn any day now though! :)

Re: Keaton Batman

I'd have to see in person, but to me, the current sculpt looks more Keaton in the mouth area, really captures the look with Keaton's I sucked something sour, pout lips.

Re: Keaton Batman

I guess there are some differences, lips, didn't notice, I was too awestruck by both of their total badassness. :lol:cool:

I wish you hadn't done that. I doubt any artist is going to enjoy an email that implies someone now prefers a discontinued item. Again, this is the very reason I didn't post my pictures until this very late date... I really didn't want to rock this Batman boat. You do understand, don't you Grangewallis?

But thank you very much for liking my figure so much. It makes me feel good. I really thought people would find fault with it in comparison to the new version.

The headsculpt on mine, if I remember correctly, is a cast of the Billiken kit Keaton... whereas Shawn's new headsculpt has been refined over the years to give it more attitude and glower.

Glower, I like that!

Last thing on this comparison issue: you all have to look at this like the differences in the new Joker figure, version 1 and version 2. They're both clearly Keaton as Batman, just with slightly different expressions -- v1 and v2.

I did asked if the head had changed since 2003. As an artist myself, I can accept people and their difference in taste and don't easily get offended if someone doesn't like my work in comparison to someone elses... It's like DCD Superman 13"er... I love the 1st issue sculpt and dislike the 2nd Issue's. Shawn comes across and a smart, nice guy and I don't think I would have ,and hope I haven't, offended him.

That information would have be good to know, if you were aware of it prior. As it would have desfused any confusion in the differences of the sculpts...I honestly don't think I've rocked the boat and I would like to hope I haven't either. But then again, tone is sometimes quite hard to convey in a post on a Messgae Board... I stuggle with it consistantly.

So I hope I haven't upset anyone, I wasn't trying to... As Maulfan says this is the happy thread, and shouldn't be spoiled, because is nice have a collective of collectors working on something as a community to achieve something special! IE: These awesome Batman figures! :D

Re: Keaton Batman

Sorry for re-posting, but this figure just rocks head to toe, Batfest 2007!

No problem, Grangewallis, and please don't get me wrong either. I'm very complimented that you approve of my figure!

I was just worried there for a minute that a preference was going to "rock the boat"... and I didn't want to feel responsible. But no biggie. No damage done.

I did know that information about the headsculpt, but you guys had already posted before I could get on to explain the differences.
