You folks need to do a little research. Do you think you are getting a metal shield from KA? Do you really know what "metal alloy" really is? You better get more details because from what I have learned, basically their shields will be coated with metal flaking......not solid metal as you all assume. KA is not licensed to sell in the USA.
Anyway, the EFX version will arrive in the hands of certain customers soon, a LICENSED replica made of the same movie prop materials.
King arts website says aluminum alloy genuine leather and wood block for the stand are the materials used for this shield. There is no way this is metal coated or they would list the material underneath. That's why I never wanted the efx one, for me it's gotta be aluminum or nothing on this shield, I would personally never be happy with a fiberglass shield. Also bbts description of this clearly states that the shield is made out of aluminum alloy with genuine leather straps, if the shield was only coated with aluminum they would have to state that or it would be false advertising.
I doubt it would be easy to return. ImoAgreed. If the Kings Arts shields for whatever reason are not metal then that would be an easy return and refund for probabaly 75% of the customers who plan to purchase this.
I doubt it would be easy to return. Imo
Where did you read about the metal flaking ? From what I have seen these are aluminum alloy which is the same thing a lot of rims are made out of. I am curious as to how its painted especially for the classic but I have yet to read anything regarding it.
Any news you could share with us would be awesome!
People in the know of the China factories. You are not getting a solid aluminum product, and its not a coating, it is a mixture of metal flaking combined with another base material. Someone who has ordered this product should contact KA directly for exact clarification.
Also, KA is not a licensed Marvel distributor to the USA....those going that route are taking a degree of risk, the quality is not proven and they have no history.....yet. Plus, as a collector, for value purposes, its always better to stick with limited editions.
^ya I agree, the high gloss paint is the only thing that I am curious to see if I will like in person. I really wish that they had a semi battle damaged version that was part way between the classic and battle damaged versions, that would be my ideal version, but I will still be thrilled to own a solid metal classic version.
Here is a good update from King Art's FB. The shield is looking really good in these pictures, not nearly as shiny as their proto (which is good). I look forward to see the finished product:
