Ha! By coincidence I just read a letter in an agony aunt section of the Irish Star relating to this article.

A 19 year old girl writing in saying she wants to be a pornstar as she is highly sexually adventurous, having had over 20 lovers since she was 16, and read this article saying pornstars have high self esteem and have better quality of life. She says none of her family or friends will support her dream and lists one of her motivations as wanting to show her jealous school bullies 'who she is'.

The response was as one would expect: "If you honestly think I'm going to encourage you to become a pornstar then you must be out of your mind..................there are some very unscrupulous people in that cut-throat business...you're vulnerable, young and unprepared....you may think you've tried most things but they will come up with things you haven't thought of in your worst nightmares....please think of something else. What about modelling?"

These newspaper agony aunts aren't exactly the people to write to if you're interested in anything outside of a one on one sexual relationship. They discourage literally everything else.

Having said that, I do agree with the response in this case. I'm a red blooded straight man and I love porn, but if I'm asked, I wouldn't recommend to any girl to go into that business. If I were this girl's family/friends I certainly wouldn't either.

A lot of porn starts start in strip clubs and are found there or friends that are in the porn business bring them in. But I remember seeing somewhere that a lot of girls start as strippers or prostitutes first. They don't just become porn stars right away, they have to sleep with guys without getting paid for it as well.

I would recommend, that like anything, it requires a solid amount of research (non-sexual) and back-up plan or "out" should it not be what the individual expected. Honestly there are seedier elements in just about everything. Hell at least with porn, sleeping your way to the top is taken at face value.

There're casting calls where directors determine whether or not she has what it takes. Genre understood, it's really no different than auditioning for a part. But most stars in the industry still make more money from doing appearances and shows at strip clubs than they do from film. So while not all cross over, there's a revolving door there.

You either believe in sex only in wedlock or sex for pleasure out of wedlock. As long as someone is going to have sex for pleasure anyway, they might as well get paid for it. Porn is for people who like to have sex for pleasure and who like to make money while they are at it. Porn stars are also regularly tested for diseases, unlike non porn stars who are promiscuous.
Something is either wrong or it isn't. Whether you get paid for it or not has nothing to do with it being right or wrong.
It is refreshing to see someone who walks the talk when it comes to sexual morality who only has sex while married and never has sex with someone elses spouse.
THAT person has real credibility when it comes to morality. Preachers who have sex with hookers or other women in secret have no credibility.

Wedlock is irrelevant. Sex is as spiritual as it is physical and replacing the spiritual standards of selection with a monetary reward is a total corruption of that (which is the factor that separates it from conventional promiscuity).
