thanks guys. I could swear it was 150.
150 for a Star Wars 1/6 would be like a server explosion
Unless its Jar Jar.
Then it'd be a second chance opportunity same day as PPO
So this is really bothering me...why does Lando not come with a Bespin Security Guard pistol which he actually holds in the course of ESB, unlike the Rebel Trooper gun which is a Kenner toy association?
So although the confirmation page said I was waitlisted, by the time the e-mail arrived I had gotten the PPO somehow (double-checked). :chew
But not until the 4th Quarter of 2009? Who's producing this, Diamond Select?
There could have been a typo somewhere, but I'm pretty sure this is the first ES below 1000 for a Star Wars 1/6.
Technically we've had a black Star Wars figure already, and he was one of the very first.
Just a thought/observation... The exclusive Lando is limited to 750. Chances are the non-exclusive will have a production run of a few thousand and everyone who wants a Lando will get one. I think we're hopeful in thinking this figure is going to retain a high aftermarket value despite the low numbers on the exclusive run.
When it comes down to it, that dinky little Bespin Communicator isn't what's going to hold value, it's the figure itself. Sure the communicator may boost the exclusive's price $10 in value, but in reality it's Lando that you want and not the communicator. I think SSC needs to rethink their exclusive strategy and maybe offer something more substantial as an exclusive or cut production numbers all together so it's tougher to get figures. At this rate I'm strongly considering not buying directly from SSC and just waiting on someone who's ready to unload their figures at rock bottom prices. I thought this trend would stop, but it doesn't look like it any time soon.
I would say easier said than done. What would you propose as Lando's exclusive then? What would justify a better exclusive? In your opinion of course. I for one think some figures just don't need exclusives and creating stuff like stands is a little goofy IMO. I think SSC did alright with Lando-I am just glad they finally made him.
And his ES was bigger by a thousand. Billy Dee is smooth, but he can't compare to the BMF.
Like so many here that made a 750 exclusive sell out in just under 4 minutes, there will always be appeal for the exclusive, regardless of how random it is. It's the idea that it's 'limited'. That sticker. The extra mold in the tray. The hope that one day it will be worth a small fortune. Whatever the reason.
If a collector (NOT someone who just wants a cheap figure to fill out his line) wants to buy a Sideshow Star Wars figure down the road they'll always look for the exclusive version first...and then price will decide.
