Ecko, if you are not going to be drilling and using the nails, I would glue the hinges to the box halves before priming it. Otherwise your hinges are only going to be sticking to a thin layer of paint and will probably pop off with ease.
I would lightly sand those back halves and glue the hinges directly to the plastic before you get too far!
Another trick on the blood slides I did (from 1.0) was I placed the droplet of paint on the slide, let it sit for about 30 seconds and then took a q-tip and dabbed with a little pressure right in the middle of the paint. What that did for me was left the outer ring of the droplet darker and the center paint thinner and more uneven. This helps sell in the illusion that the blood is pressed against 2 pieces of glass, since the blood flattens and spreads when he places the glass halves together.
Also I recommend buying these, this is what I used to put my slides in, made a world of difference
