I think this is a beautiful statue but not worth the price of five other Premium Formats. I'd have to love Avatar more than SW, LOTR, Captain America, and GI Joe combined to justify this, and I simply don't. Too bad.

I called SSC and asked them if this was going to be numbered. They couldn't tell me. They said all of their pieces are limited by either time or numbering. I told him I didn't want to fork over $1600 if it wasn't numbered, and I was told I would have to wait until Thursday.

:lol Did you actually think SS was going to give you an answer??

SS personnel know nothing of their own products. Hell, their still learning how to spell their own name properly :rotfl

Dont even bother calling or emailing...you'll never get a straight or accurate answer.

Just watched the film for the first time, i had it on blu ray for ages but never got the time, and...

I loved it, thought it was a fantastic film, loved the villain, as in i hated the colonel, overall it was exatcly what i wanted from a future alien war film, i love the idea of the humans being the bad guys for a change.

I really really really want this statue now but SSC you fools! You priced yourself too high, i just cant rationalise the cost, if it was $1200 or lower then i'd jump on it, but $1600 is just too damn high.

What the hell are they thinking?

it's 3ft tall, has lights, and it's from Legacy. Why are you guys so shocked what the price is? The IM piece has the same stats, and that one is $1950. I don't understand what you guys were expecting........

It doesn't matter. That is a bit too much, considering the vast line of products this company offers to the average consumer. For that price, I would expect perfection, and for this to be labeled as a true replica of an actual maquette prop used for the movie, and be very very limited in quantity, so that truly it would only be for the rich hardcore movie memorabilia collector. But if the statue and pose was just made up for something to sell to us, along side their other products, then it's a bit much. For that price, I might as well save a little more and get a life size Terminator, or R2 D2, or Half scale Iron Man...

How this is any more demanding in scope than the Predator Maquette is beyond me (1000 bucks retail at launch). Other than a light up feature.

I don't even think Avatard is popular enough of a movie, that lots of ppl are gonna spend the kind of cash for this. The T2 Endo and IM piece are from much more popluar movies, and sales haven't been so hot for those 2.

This makes the CM Vader seem cheap in comparison. No acrylic eyes, real fabric, professional paint job. hmm..

But something tells it I will still get it. I hope it is limited in number.
Because then it will feel really special, and I'll be one of the crazy few willing to spend the money on this piece. She will sit on the same shelf as my Predator Maquette and Alien Warrior Maquette.

So i left a comment on the Gallery Preview expressing my disappointment in the price and suggesting that $999.99 would be a better price and that there will be many left in SSC warehouses.

And the comment was removed, i guess SSC doesnt take criticism well, i have little hope the price will go down by thursday now.

The comment on there now is a guy who is "couldn't be happier" to pay $1599.99. Thats not the consensus i've read.
they dont want negative comments dissuading potential buyers. i hate that kind of censoring. why stop there though? why not just get all sideshow employees to type in glowing feedbacks while they're at it. maybe that's what the remaining 5 positive feedbacks on the site are.

beautiful piece. i'll get it on secondary market after the price drop.

Is it really worth twice as much as the big chap? It's a beautiful statue but not for that kind of money. Soon or later they will make a bad name for themselves... high price, high edition size, open ES...

I really am quite surprised. A lot of us were hoping for $800 but were ready to plunk down $1000. How many people who were lining up to drop $1000 on an Avatar collectible is Sideshow turning away? For the sake of the five who will pay $1600? Crazy.

They can censor their stupid comments board all they want. But they can't censor this board. Even they must know what they are asking for this is way too high. If they did all the could to get costs down, and try to figure out a way to lower the cost for the consumer, but couldn't do it, then they should have just scrapped this project, or give it a company where you would expect to pay that kind of price.

Im hoping CM puts these clowns out of business one day. Their QC is horrible, the prices are horrible, their customer relations is horrible. Im amazed anyone still buys their junk.

:goodpost:

I was one of the ones willing to go as high about $1200, now i'm not, shame this would look fantastic in my living room, would've been my first maquette too, oh well we can only hope that SSC has seen the reactions of us potential customers and lowers the price by at least $400-$500.

This is definitely out of my price range...and not because i can't actually afford it but because I just can't justify the bang for the buck. I won't go as far as saying sideshow is the devil because I understand it's a business and I still like a lot of the stuff they are coming out with. Sadly, I have a feeling there are enough people that will still throw down this insane price to justify future outrageous prices as well. I just hope the 1/4 scale ones stay in the $300 range.
