Legalizing Drugs On The Horizon

Celtic, I want you to think honestly about this hypothetical question and please give me an honest answer. If you have a child in say 7 years, and 15 years later that child tells you they are going to start smoking dope and drinking no matter what you say. Are you just going to accept that?

I'll sit down and talk to my child. I'll let him know the facts of it all. I'll do my best to get him to make the smart decisions, and if he chooses the wrong path, i'll do my best to steer him in the right one. But no matter what, i'll love my son. Or daughter. And i'll be there for them.

Well peace out fellow collecters. Maybe if I didn't have such bad experiences with drugs I would have a different opinion of them. I do believe that all of you who are "pro" will someday know pain from someone they love dying from drug addiction, and the drug that started it will be pot. I thank God that my dad was a hard ass sob. Things were different back then, you didn't tell your dad you were going to do something no matter what he thought. Not trying to unfairly pick on Celtic, but what he said is what I find wrong with this country. You have a minor telling his parents that he is going to do something and apparently he was allowed to get away with it.

my old man was a hard foreign sob off the boat. hardcore work ethic and no time for bull^^^^. He didn't need to lay us out every time we acted like douche bag kids to get his point across.

That's a pretty harsh statement. You don't think sober people know that pain as well? C'mon man, you're taking this to the extreme. The way you say that, it's almost like you're inferring the "pro" people deserve that experience.

I've had friends and family members die from illness and drug addictions alike, and placing the blame on marijuana would be a really stupid thing for me to do, don't you think? Do you really believe that a meth addict wouldn't have gotten there if weed didn't exist?

The "pro" folks here are talking about casually smoking (it is possible contrary to what you may believe), not hardcore drug use. I smoke casually in a non-smoking home. My wife doesn't smoke, and you won't find bongs and old food on the floor like some addict, or colledge kids house. Go to work every day and pay my taxes like a good little sucker and don't get in any trouble at all. Do you think I should be prosecuted as a criminal drug addict along with all the heroin addicts?

Seriously though, I do respect the responsible parents here who are keeping their kids clean - no doubt that's the right thing to do. The thing is, it's a whole different bigger world outside of your households. I honestly think you guys are blinded to the dynamics of marijuana use.

I haven't heard any of the "against" people comment on the true medical marijuana users though. I am curious to see how you guys feel about people with cancer or glaucoma who use weed to kill the pain.

I really don't see how you or Celtic are taking offense to what I posted. What I was "inferring" was what I stated, that in your lifetime someone you know who is a casual drug user will get sucked into using harder drugs which may very well cost them their lives. How am I "inferring" that pro-drug people deserve to lose someone from drugs from that? Where did I say that.Where in any of my post did I say you or someone else hhould prosecuted? Show me. Hell I even admitted my 2 brothers are users. You guys are reaching. All I said was that I don't agree with it being legalized and I don't agree that it is harmless as you guys say it is. So again, show me where I implied the things you wrote.

I'm going from my life and seeing what drugs did in my family. I'm not wishing that someone you love dies from drug use. No where did I say that and I wouldn't say it. What I am implying is that with how widespread drug use is there is a good possibility that someone in your life, a friend, a cousin, a co-worker will start using harder drugs after being a casual drug user. Nothing meant to be ignorant about the statement.

I guess I just don't know where you live then or if it's for medicinal use. Just in my experience on other boards if you are either doing something illegal or suggesting it can get you banned. If you can do it legally then never mind.
