He's a big fan of how JAWS handled the shark, I feel like Godzilla will be just like that, a slow build of glimpses, each more and more awesome than the last and once he's full unleashed, it's on.

Well you can't fault anyone for trying to do something that the greatest film of all time did.... He also is taking a page from JAWS in the fact that he is making a character driven film and not just a "monster movie"

Now I am not expecting JAWS but it's a good idea to look to the best.

I will say that I hope we get to see more of Godzilla the we did of Bruce the Shark.

This will also be good news to my 8 year old... When we went to see Pacific Rim he actually complained that they showed the monsters so quickly... He turned to me and said "Daddy they supposed to make you wait and get ready to see the monster... not show it right away" He even complained after the movie. He wanted there to be some suspense and some excitement about waiting for the big reveal..... Made me proud :)

And here I thought Godzilla was going to be the main character? :lol

But seriously, if there are cool human characters with a good plot driven story, seeing the big G in action will be the icing on the cake!

Only gripe is it really sort of seems Godzilla walks with his arms down.
Yeah, it looks ridiculous. But expected after that poster...

Your kid's a genius, I said the same thing when PR opened and people on the thread where "Oh but it's a fun throw back, we can't have no suspense" :lol

In retrospective, it was Celtic so, nevermind :lol

I hope Godzilla is nothing like Pacific Rim. :lol

Me to. For a movie that I wanted to like I ended up not liking it at all. I mean yea it was cool and all but the characters were just so damn weak and generic. The monsters were cool but some of the fights were just so slow paced. I just didnt really enjoy it like I wanted to. Ah well. SHoulda just made Evangalion:(

Pacific Rim just plays out like a young fanboy's fantasy brought to life with CGI instead of action figures at home. Only one character was really developed, the human story was average, the fights short, kaiju shots brief. It just doesn't come off as a movie trying to be anything more than spectacle.

Edwards recognizes the value of a solid human story in a monster film and is delivering on it. It kills me when people think oh we just need more of the robots or monsters. No, because no matter what, and especially with the cost of CGI, the creature's time on screen is only going to amount to about 1/3 of the run time, the other 2/3 can't be so bland that all you do is wait for the 1/3 or it's a bad movie, which is what happened to the Alien and Predator franchises.

Oh, and jye, Bruce is one of the greatest creature effects in the history of cinema and blows away half the CGI creatures out there.
