Well, for starters, I loved Godzilla as a kid but then lost touch with his movies post 1980 and just NOW decided to rediscover him, heavily I might add.

Therefore I am not the Godzilla authority here.

But I will say that I enjoyed it alot, some truly epic moments, with the San Fran cut away being one TOO many.

The trailers LIED, so much so that the halo jump actually felt out of place in the movie yet fit perfectly into the trailer.

But I'm ok with a friendly Godzilla.

It left me wanting more, that's a good thing.

:lol :rotfl :lol

I went into this movie with the silly notion that it would be the Godzilla movie to end all Godzilla movies.

How naive and stupid of me.

It just made me want to soak up more Godzilla.

Godzilla (2014) is definitely better than that piece of hot steaming **** with Ferris Bueller and The Professional where they made Godzilla a Jurassic Park T-Rex.

I was reading all the spider comments in the thread when I felt something crawling on my shoulder and then neck. Turns out it was just a beetle and I flushed the poor ******* down the terlot.

I don't mind spiders all that much but snakes are the most evil disgusting thing in the world. You wanna see me scream like a Japanese school girl, you put one near me.

Also the only thing I liked about garbage Godzilla was the design. Everything else about that movie was terrible. Just terrible.

Watched Godzilla vs the thing and godzilla vs mechagodzilla '74 with the gf last night and introduced her to some vintage zilla. She considers the 2014 design as "finally perfected" so she doesnt think many Godzilla designs are worthy of the love. But not only did she praise '64's look but she thought overall as a movie it felt like it was made with more love than 2014 and she liked the human characters much more. I'll take that.

But she still thinks 2014 had the best spectacle and ending. I'll take that too.

She also humorously called Godzilla vs mechagodzilla as godzilla vs planet of the apes vs Indiana jones vs James bond.

Yup I'm taking that as well. Lol

When his spine started lighting up for atomic fire breath, I totally geeked out in the theater! :yess: Knew what was coming next!

Agreed! :rock

I was surprised that after Godzilla killed the two mutos that he didn't take a moment to feed on them. Isn't that why he was supposedly hunting them?

I love the 74 movie but that Godzilla suit is just horrible.

His movements are cute though, the way he fights and emotes his frustrations. :lol

Amazing that Amazon had the out of print dvd for $122.00, I just bought it on Vudu for $10.00 yesterday. :lol

As the first Godzilla movie I ever saw, that suit has some nostalgic value. It is also way better than the Megalon suit.

But it isnt nearly as regal looking as the '68 look--his best "good guy" design.

I do like his entrance though over the hill when he saves king seesar. Too bad he looks like he does the chicken dance when he's walking lol.

The movie is fun and silly, just perfect. :lol

I mean, nothing beats King Seesar hiding behind the big rock and poking his head out to see what MechaGodzilla was up to, and MG sees him and shoots out the rock. :lol

That part made no sense to me either. Dr. Ishiro and his assistant explain to Brody (right before the first muto attack) that Godzilla is an "Alpha Predator" but it looked like Godzilla just wanted to whoop some *** and then bounce. :lol

Perhaps we're supposed to take it that Godzilla also feeds on radiation and they were his competition? If they bred and multiplied by thousands then they'd be dwindling his resources and their extinction was the only way Godzilla could survive?

So if you look at radiation as the "prey" (as opposed to the MUTO's being prey) then he's the alpha predator that must put down all competitors.

This was at least a good intro. Let's hope it's a lot more the next time. Like an Aliens or T-2.

I remember back when filming started they were filming during at the radiation plant and people assumed godzilla fed off radiation. Maybe the muto carry radiation.
