Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

One thing I've realized and appreciate about the trailer, it's all about the movie, there's no name dropping or anything, no catchy slogans, shows a lot of support for the quality of the film.

Just speculating, during production they filmed Elizabeth Olsen in the streets with rain during daylight reacting to a Godzilla attack, I'm thinking the mayhem leadin to the halo jump is Godzilla showing up either unexpectedly since the city hasn't been evacuated and goes on a destructive path leading to the jump scene, making ATJ's character afraid for his wife in the city. Would be great drama, the victims in Gojira had no connection to the principle characters, they all just watched from afar.

I wonder at what point in the film that is?

I'm thinking close to the end. Using Gojira as a model, I think the film will do it's global span in the first and second acts with the attack on San Fran and halo jump being the big third act equivalent to Godzilla's main attack on Tokyo in Gojira.

I'm very curios where Godzilla's first appearance will be, Japan, U.S., somewhere else. I hope there's some mystery, unexplained disasters needing to be uncovered.

Didn't they film a big beach scene in Hawaii? I'm guessing that will be one of his first sightings...

Yeah, I know Hawaii was a big place for the 'destruction' scenes. I remember watching a newscast on Youtube about it.

This topic makes me want to get some beef Chalupas, Pink Lemonade, and a side of Nachos :drool

This trailer was shared by myself on Facebook. It has basically spread like wild fire. It might be my most shared link I've ever posted on Facebook before. They don't need no stinking marketing campaign! I'm gonna see this in IMAX if it's shown in 2D. If this is 3D, then I'll have to settle for a normal screen.

Hell yeah, IMAX for me as long as the closest showing isn't too far away. I find 3D to be too distracting, but I still enjoy the depth it brings, therefor, I'd like to watch it first in 2D then in 3D if available.

Yeah, I'm thinking he's created in Japan and hits Hawaii on his way to San Fran, but then again, who knows which locales are his damage or the other monsters.

That's exactly how I see it going. I wonder if he even hits Hawaii on screen. They probably will only show wreckage as the result after his "birth" with some witnesses talking about a giant monster or dragon ala the original Gojira, Return of Godzilla, GMK, and G'98. All those movies where Godzilla is the "bad guy" show a very brief glimpse on an island, village or attack out in the sea and then he is fully revealed during his main attack on a major city.

As far as the run time, has there been a confirmed length yet? I'm thinking the Halo jump is more towards the middle of the film. Maybe it begins to set up the last act, but I think it all sort of depends on if Godzilla faces a real foe in this one. Or just fodder like the corpse we've seen in the first teaser.

I'd prefer to see Godzilla by himself though...seeing a monster brawl to end the film, as fun as it is, takes away from the horror and fearsomeness of Godzilla himself to the human characters in the film.

I thought that the humans will be responsible for creating the other monsters.

I'd imagine Godzilla and the other monsters are created somewhat together, accidentally of course.

Unless you know way more about the plot than I do? Humans make monsters on purpose to fight Godzilla?

Jye just wants this to be as close to Pacific Rim as possible.

Godzilla would chew every pacific rim Kaiju up and spit them out.

Well, the sculpts are unpainted, so hard to make too much of a judgement call. But based on the shape of the sculpt, I think it looks pretty faithful to the clasic Godzilla design!
