Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

And the shuttle is on sale too. Free shipping and TC-14 minifigure over $75 and free R2D2 poster with any SW purchase.

I finally bought the Super Star Destroyer. I was balking at buying an expensive set that they had to stuff an exclusive minifigure in to sell, but this discount was decent. Also picked up the last Marvel sets I needed and got a couple more TC-14s.

I still have mixed feelings about the SSD. I'm a scale freak, and it doesn't fit in with the few UC sets I decided to keep (X-Wing, Advanced TIE, MF). I honestly wouldn't have bought it if not for the discount. Which I guess means their marketing ploy worked.

The SSD is amazing...you won't be disappointed at all. It was incredibly fun to put together...unlike the imperial shuttle...I'm kinda bored with that one right now.

Anyone getting the R2D2?

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

The Imperial Shuttle is on sale on Lego.com, so I bought that and used some more of my VIP points. Also got the free poster and TC-14.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

Yeah, the out of stock wasn't on the item this morning. Weird that it's out of stock now.

Must have been a bunch of people ready to jump on that deal! :lol
Says shipping in 30 days...any experience with that one? Does it usually ship?

I've never bought when it was out of stock. But they usually ship pretty quick. It just depends on what service you use for the timing. I chose free shipping, so it's gonna be slow. :rotfl

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

As a seasoned Lego collector, here's some advice:

- IIRC Discover offers 5% cash back on Lego.com purchases

- failing that, use ebates for 3% back

- your safest bet is to buy six battlepacks to get to the $75 minimum order as the other sets frequently go on sale, whereas BP sales are very rare. For example, the TIE Fighter retails for $55, but is on sale at Amazon every so often for $42.

- If you're going to make large ticket purchases over the minimum, try doing it at the Lego brand store. If you are lucky, the cashier will give you a promo figure for every $75 you spend. So for example, a $320 set will net you four minifigs instead of just one.

I've already placed seven orders online and now I'm on my way to the store to do some real damage. :wave

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

I regret seeing SW Legos at the mall just about 2 years ago and passing them up. :slap Now the only sets I see for sale are the Grievous starfighter and the clone trooper battle pack. :panic:

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

Lego shop at home has the UCS shuttle for 20 percent off. $207 plus free shipping. Would anyone who has this reccomend it? Worth the money ? It looks like a great set.

It's a very good price if you want it now, especially with the promo minifig which will likely later go for somewhere between $25-60.

Otherwise, I've seen it go for under $200 on Amazon, so if you don't pay taxes at Amazon and have to pay taxes at Lego.com, it's not the best deal possible.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

Question, which should I get first, X-wing, or Tie Fighter?

The TIE goes for $42 on sale at Amazon (make sure that Amazon is the seller to avoid shipping charges). If I were to see it for that price, I'd buy that first.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

How about price withstanding, which set is cooler?

X-Wing for two reasons:

1. Swooshability; includes wings that fold into attack mode

2. Porkins

BTW, it's $50 from Amazon right now. That's around 25% off once you factor in tax.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

I say get the TIE Fighter first just because it is such a better interpretation compared to the older version and the new X-Wing isn't all that much better than the last one that was put out. Also, the last X-Wing was available for a very long time after it's initial release.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

I saw the new R2-D2 set at the Lego Shop in Orlando this weekend. It is freaking sweet and a must-buy for me! Went to the counter to buy one and the guy said they sold out in 17 minutes. :(

He said a restock should come around the end of May.
