I agree totally with you guys about the different aspects of GTG, but i still think the pose just doesn't work. Yes he is a super-hero, but he shouldn't stride or lurch...

Exactly. It all comes down to personal taste as to which aspect of GTG you want for your collection. The SSW version and the PF portray him more or less as a quite, stoic leader, and the maquette portrays him as a powerful wizard. I know the "super hero" label gets tossed around with the maquette and I really can't argue with that....because in some respects that's exactly what he was. Let's face it, he had powers and abilities no man, elf, or dwarf possessed and he accomplished something an army could not have, namely defeat the Balrog. Now that's what I call a "super hero". :lecture

No argument here woodsy, but how did we get on to GTG?

Mind you, I wish they had put his hat on straight...it really bugs me.

I imagine with this piece he's fighting the Balrog and some serious action is going on.

Put myself down on the WL for the EX.
I think that the LOTR Maquette line is definitely going to be a winner.

in my opinion, it's a good time to get on the wait-lists for these. I feel after Aragorn comes out (and as long as it has no paint issues) and a couple more pieces are announced, the line will gain some steam.

I can see some of these earlier pieces being tough to find at retail later on.

Once there is consistency with the line and SS shows they are committed to it, you will find more and more collectors flocking towards it.

Absolutely, with no NRD's it is the perfect time. Once those NRD's are implemented within the maquette line I think it will be a big mistake for people to hold off from ordering as soon as these statues become available.

Esp. with the low ES's [of the excl's] we have seen so far. If The Hobbit does indeed have the impact SS and LOTR fans are hoping for, these initial pieces could become highly sought after.

Agreed making sure you get in now and get some of the ones you want before we see NRD (which I think we need) is a great idea. You will be able to get the ones you want and only pay any of it when it ships.

The Capt. Hook PF and Legolas maquette pre-orders began the same day. The fact Hook featured a NRD whereas Legolas didn't, leads me to believe SS messed up on this one. Personally, I don't have the slightest problem with NRD's and I think Legolas will be the last LOTR maquette not to feature one.....making future maquette waitlists much more difficult to convert.

Well, I think Hook was meant to have one as well they're putting those on all PF's now I think. I do agree though that it was missed on Legolas and that he will be the last one to see the light of day without one.

I just remembered the reason I thought we were getting a NRD with Legolas.....because that information [it's since been removed] was originally included with the photo gallery and pre-order information two days before pre-orders began. I also recall you were the guy who 1st brought to our attention the fact there was no NRD once pre-ordering began. :lecture

Yep, they said there would be one and I remember it being 22.50, the usual 10%. someone messed up, and I foresee all future exclusive releases will have the NRD.

Yeah, they had it posted in the production blog that Legolas was gonna be the first. Totally took me off guard when the product page was up and nothing.
