Good eye. I think I'll paint mine on the back.

We need a number 9 on here now...

Nice shots Master. :duff

My favorite thing about this piece is it captures someplace in time during TTT Helm's Deep sequence. Its one we haven't had represented before and honestly its my favorite look of Legolas during the entire trilogy.

I have a number 9, a number 189 to be exact. :lol

Didn't notice that lack of painting detail. I do wish it was completed, but definitely does not detract from the overall presence of this piece. If I had any kind of talent, I might try to paint that on myself, as Fremen is going to do.

Ah well, minor speed bump, but definitely indicative of Sideshow of late. :(

This is really an easy touch up. Get some gold paint, or bronze or whatever color you want. Then use a dry brush technique and gently pull the bristles across the raised areas. They will catch what little paint is on the brush on the highest surfaces.

I know, but the real question is:

Should this be something we expect to have to do with more releases than not, that is, touch up on an item which cost $225 plus shipping and which we have waited ten months to receive?

I'm not griping, I'm very happy with the line. But with each subsequent release from Sideshow, there seems to be more and more reports of lacking final result...

From now you must consider the purchase price as buying something that will fall short in some way when delivered. With the amount of fine painting detail on this piece it was inevitable that something like this would happen. However given all of the other fine details it almost makes me wonder whether this isn't a management issue rather than just poor QC. By management I mean effective communication. Unfortunately we really don't have another company producing 125 dollars versions of each statue and a third producing 400 dollar versions of each statue that would allow us to address the question of whether a 225 dollar statue needs to be touched up.

Unfortunately it has come to just this simple of a decision: Is it worth it to me? Sideshow doesn't care. Period. They would laugh at you for returning this piece due to the paint missing on the quiver.

I am NO fan of Sideshow and certainly not a cheerleader for them. But if you complain about the small stuff it may drown out legit complaints. Plus then SS can just blame it all on the increasingly fickle nature of the statue collecting community. And in part they would be right. Sure it sucks about the paint here but if you are feeling disappointed think of what could have been - go browse the Rogue PF thread :)

i think you guys have way too high expectations, i come to accept sideshow products for what they are, it's just a mass produced product outsourced from china, like everything else.

Below is not sideshow exactly (gaming heads), but very similar operations. There are only a few factories in china those western companies outsource to for statues. Please tell me what kind of QC or paint quality you really expect, do you think any of those guys are artist or done any artist work/painting in the past? instead of random migrant workers off the street for a paycheck.

That´s not my problem. I preorder a product with a prototype picture. If sideshow is not going to keep the quality of the prototype then wait until the first final product is made to sell the statue and not before.

I think we have seen some ups and downs from Sideshow in terms of quality control, and even if you plan on keeping the item, it would help them to know that you received a product with issues. I don't mean to chew them out or yell into the phone at them, but if you receive a product with a quality control issue, it would be best to let them know about the problem. I would think that they do track customer issues, and would appreciate honest feedback in order to help improve things down the road.

If my Legolas arrives missing that particular paint app, I will let them know, but as people have said, it looks to be a pretty easy fix with a dry-brush. I am disappointed to see the missing paint app, but overall this statue looks like a home-run, and I hope that mine arrives before the end of the week!!
