I like using the chat function when I have a problem with a product lately. They are always quick to reply and can often take care of problems right away that way. Super nice service.

I'm a long time lurker and I do not post. However, the Sideshow quality control has me to the point of making a comment. My Legolas showed up the other day. One of the knife sheathes had a chip at the top which keeps the handle from staying in place.

And yes, the quiver is almost all brown. However, there is some gold on the design. I'm left to believe that the gold was painted first (which from my limited painting experience would be normal) and then covered with the brown. The only thing is that whoever did the brown was too lazy to do the details and slapped the paint on. So parts of the quiver have a little gold on the design, but most is covered.

Obviously I put in an exchange request. I've had to return way too many items to Sideshow in the past and this has me to the point where i just would rather have a refund (which I would if I didn't have preorders with NRD's). I may still stop collecting from them and just return the other statues as they are shipped to get my money back.

The face sculpt is really excellent, looks like Orlando Bloom. Did anyone else have this chip on the leather strap? The scabbard on mine wasn't painted either, what a pain. Sideshow should skip those quality stickers, they don't mean anything.

Thank ya! There isnt anything I love talking about more than LOTR or The Hobbit. :rock

Thank ya again. I'm glad they came out so well. Shade was a little thick the other day but I'm pleased with them none the less. Now, just have to wait for Gimli to ship so I can drool over that one.

Enjoy Bill :duff

UPS just delivered Legolas Exclusive #164 to my office. Can't wait to get him home and take some pictures. I will have to look in my old hobby supplies to see if I have any gold paint, otherwise I will have to get out this week to get a jar. The missing paint app looks like a pretty easy fix, and is a must-fix for me.

He's the artist who sculpted this, Aragorn, portrait of Arwen, GTG PF, all the Indy PF's, and the Indy 1:6th figures off the top of my head.

Man he did the Indys as well? Like I said in the other thread, just got my Mola Ram PF for 160 bucks from BBTS and man this thing is killer.

@ Fremen & Craw, how difficult was it for you to paint that? I want to do that, but I have no skills as a painter and am very nervous I would mess it up.

Really a simple dry brush would work but if you want to get the sides of the detail a very steady hand and very small brush is needed.

Slow and steady and don't breath. Those glasses that magnify things really help. If you take your time and don't rush it, it's not bad to paint. I did go outside the lines in a couple of places but I went too fast. It only took me about 5 minutes to do the first coat.

I had one major accident and I know better but make sure that there is not paint higher up on the brush that will run down and put a huge drip all over the place.

A steady hand a #0 brush is what i used. It wasn't the hardest thing i've ever painted. You can get most of it by dry brushing over the large designs. The hard parts were the curly loops that are coming out at the very bottom and the sides.
