I think it's just a matter of assembly line production. I'm not knocking the process, as it keeps the cost of our collectibles down somewhat. But basically, these maquettes, especially, seem to be assembled in pieces. It seems like the base is one area of the shop, the body another, even separate parts of the body seem to fit together like a big puzzle, so...

The area of the shop responsible for the quiver just didn't get correct or sufficient instructions and did not have any oversight prior to the final assembly of each Legolas.

Still, quite an excellent piece, and I'm super excited to see the continuation of this line with some Hobbits come December.

/me crossed fingers... :D

I wish it was assembly line production, that would indicate a consistent and benchmarked quality control. Unfortunately it's just a bunch of workers sitting around a few tables doing their thing. So the paint differs very greatly depends on the painter you get. I have bought 3 conan prize so far (no not kidding) and am unsatisfied with any of them (will probably just get one repainted and be done with), but the interesting part is if you compare them you can see the major difference in the paint around the face and golden laces.

Going to china next year, i am going to visit their "factories" and see if i can pickup some cool stuff :)

Nobody told me, but I'm hoping very strongly that a pair of Hobbits will come next in the line. We have had enough divergence from the fellowship with Arwen and the amazing Ringwraith. I don't think the line will die if they give us the nine in maquette form. Actually, I think it will gain strength. But to keep my interest, I certainly hope they give us a pair next. I would take either Pip & Merry, or Sam & Frodo, although I think they will hold off on the S&F pair until a few more releases.

Is all of this wishful thinking? Maybe. I love this line. :D

I would like to see a pair of hobbits next but I wouldnt be surprised if we get another bad guy. Right now we have two (if you're like me and count the snow troll) so we need another to balance things a bit more.

Although not deadly it clearly represents a wholesale mistake. I think other companies (cough, Weta, cough) would recall the lot if at all possible. I mean is this any different than the base wood bubbling on Smaug? I suppose the wood is a manufacturer's defect while this is something else.

I totally agree with your assessment there. We do need more baddies, and I especially want to see some orc, and Saruman in this line. Not to mention a Sauron, although I suppose he might be awhile since he's coming up in PF soon. Not that it stopped Sideshow before, ala Gandalf double dipping. I think I most want to see Hobbits though, since they are not represented in my collection at all, and I love them so.

Are you talking about the tan color differentiation, or the lack of paint detail on the quiver? Or both? I got confused.

we definately need a couple of orcs, goblins and Saruman. Even if he came without a horse, I would like to see the Mouth of Sauron.

BTW, how big would a 1/6 Sauron be?

About 1/6 scale sized :D

I wouldn't buy a Sauron, i already have the SSW one. I'm sure SS would do a great job, but i don't see the need to own 2.

Oh, and consider Legolas ORDERED. Flexpayed this morning. Nearly $70 worth of points discount too!

Here's Leggy with some bad shadows across his face. The group is hanging out with the Tusken while their display space is being worked on.

bleh you tease..

Congratulations on getting your wait list conversion! This is a really great piece in a really great line that only seems to be building up momentum.

I am definitely in the camp that would like to see a hobbit release up next. I can understand the desire for more villains, but the number one priority for several collectors is to see the nine members of the Fellowship released. Give us the complete Fellowship that we didn't see in the PF or 12" or LSB series and I think even more people will get on board once it's proven that this will not be an abandoned line. I want the core characters first and then they can go crazy with random or obscure or unexpected choices.

The quality of the first three gives me high hopes for future announcements. This brings back feelings of the original Sideshow/Weta pieces like nothing else has in the years since I first started collecting.

Just had my EX convert today as well. Also just had FedEx drop off the Black Orc Scout Ex PF !! Happy times...

If this comes back in stock I'm going to be peeved, sheesh, there's only 350 exclusives. If they are not truly selling out each time, I fear for the longevity of the line.

If these were never hitting wl at all then I'd get worried. I agree that having a hobbit announcement will help squash any concerns.
