Bowen makes statues that look like they have been ripped right from the Comic pages.

Sideshow never get this right imo, they always look too realistic and stylized for me.

There are some exceptions like the Spidey Comiquette but for the most part i think SS fails to capture that comic book essence like Bowen does.

I'm not buying Marvel statues because of the movies, the TV shows, the animations etc i'm buying them because of reading the books so when i get the statues i want them to look like the books and Bowen's the only one who gets this right.

That is why I'm sticking with Bowen. I am a comics geek, not a statue hoarder.

Yeah, I like to collect from my favorite comics, books, movies, and games. Some SS pieces are amazing, but to me most aren't. At that point, the size is just the selling point. I don't need shelves of big clunkers around taking up space.

I rather have an "X" or "A" base then a cheap clear acrylic base that you have to screw onto the statue anytime of the day.

Fair enough but I also prefer a great paintjob. Have you seen the Sucker Punch stuff in person? I saw Blondie and was blown away.

I agree. I think Bowen does the best paint jobs overall. Kotos paint apps could use a restructuring.

When it comes to getting the paint apps or QC issues more often than not. Bowen has that market on lock in that area of expertise. I think most of these companies could take a page out of their book.

Sideshow still owns the market share, but I think GG and Kotobukiya may be ones to watch down the road. Sideshow is the one to beat. Has been and will be for a long while, I'm sure.

Two of my favorite Bowens that I have are museum Classic Thor and Classic Cap. Bowen has an enormous back catalog of Marvel classics like no one else and are great comic representations. I still like what SSC is putting out though. When they do a good job on a piece you really like is fantastic. Collect what you like and what's manageable but limiting yourself to one scale it just that, limiting. Just gotta be paitinet to get what you want sometimes.

:exactly: totally agree.

Ummm, Gentle Giant. Their sculpts of late are ahead of SSC. Really digging their new Marvel pieces.

Their Iron Man statues were a sweet surprise this past Comicon. Much better than the legacy effect and sideshow counterparts. Also their mini busts have much greater level of detail than the Bowen's. Real competition is on the horizon for Sideshow, that's for sure.

Jerry and his team are great artists. PCS knows how to knock it off the park.:dance

That is true, but their issue has to be improving the business side of the company. As a business you have to really take care of things like somewhat reliable scheduling, website upkeep and customer service. If they can expand in those areas and maybe grow in the daily operations department, then the sky's the limit for them. But until then, they're just going to be "mom and pop". Also, if you're going to keep going after new major licenses then the workload has to be met with the personnel otherwise you're going to spread yourself too thin in every area.

No one really doubts their artistic development and vision, but you have to take care of all aspects when owning and managing a company...

You have a extremely valid point. Although I own many marvelous creations by PCS , I have always been let down by the time it takes for their releases and the infamous pre-order system. Jerry has a lot of work to do on this department.

Jerry, if you ever read this post and need someone for help, call me. I have a business degree. ;)

Shameless plug for oneself...shame on you...:lol

Come on! Let's keep the party going.:pfft:

Looking at this Iron Studios company look like they might be on to something with the true 1/6 scale Hulk diorama. Just remains to be seen what they'll do and what direction this company will be heading.
