The horn I could maybe see some artistic license there..the skulls I looked at didn't have much nose horn left. Feet positions and stance I thought were still a bit controversial.

Galileo does like feedback and is really concerned his pieces are as accurate as they can be. He mentioned being limited by some resources of his location. I'll ask him and he see..he may not even realize.

Here's a pose that has been talked about more than once :

Wonder when we'll get a sculpt of it ? A 1/1 baby sauropod shouldn't be too difficult. ;)

Nah, he doesn't need to be bothered by our quibbling.

I like the baby sauropods, and the bipedal running sort of reinforces the similarities of young sauropods with adult prosauropods. I think Holtz wrote about that somewhere, unless I'm mistaken.

I like to help when I can though, after all if something doesn't look right it could harm his sales.

I pulled off the DA page when I got the pic in Fabio Pastori's Gallery :

"Howdy Fabio,

When I say that the animal was running, I mean that the animal was moving at twice normal walking speed. On the same block, we observe hind tracks that fall heel to toe. This should help you to triangulate where to put the hind feet. If our downscaling of adult apatosaurs does in fact provide us with a good model for what the infants looked like, these tracks suggest that the animal had both feet barely off the ground at the same time, or, just about had both feet in the air at the same time.

The running apatosaur should not be hard. Remember that these animals concentrated mass and power at the hips, hind limbs, and tail base. In many ways, these dinosaurs are functionally bipedal: the forelimb is utilized to take the strain of that elongated neck off the back and hindlimbs.

I would suggest two potential poses for the forelimbs - folded and held close to the body and hovering just above the ground.

I also find two possible positions for the neck - curled back toward the hips to move the center of gravity toward the hips, or sticking straight out. Compared to the rest of the body, there is not much mass to the neck.

No tail drag mark exists with these running tracks, so, the tail must be depicted in the air.

If the animal was running at top speed, perhaps the neck would curl back and the forelimbs would fold under the body. If the baby dinosaur was starting or stopping the run, the neck would be horizontal and arms, perhaps, not quite as tucked in toward the body".

Sincerely,

Matt

Seems they could have run pretty well..if all that is correct.

Ah, so this is Pastori's work. The swan-like neck curl still looks odd to me.

Yeah and he posted it on his DA page...lots of nice work there.

Galileo said to say " thanks " , and he really appreciates the help and feedback from Dinosaur enthusiasts like himself ! It might be too late to change this one..but future pieces should be more accurate.

One small problem with the "swan-neck";the vertebrae in the neck won't articulate that much. Those long necks were actually rather stiff. The best they could manage was just shy of a 60 degree arc, though the head did have a decent range of motion at the occipital condyle.Spend enough time around paleontologists and you pick up all kinds of interesting corprolites...PS

I take it that's where you've been spending your time, then? Just say yes, to make us all jealous.

Oh yeah...for the STORE right ? lol

Jeremy.. I'm having a bit of a fit right now..this guy looks really cool. Between Shane, Sideshow, and Galileo I def see financial troubles ahead for myself. :(

Hey, what good is money if we don't spend it on awesome things we love, right? kits built up by Shane, Galileo and others, is definitely worth our hard earned cash. :D

the problem isnt spending the money... the problem is that we dont have enogh money to spend! =(
