This is good. Based on my experience with Kaustic Plastick's useless (paper sticker topped) John Wayne magnetic base, I never want the misfortune of another magnetic base.
It went into a cupboard after proving wholly ineffective in keeping The Duke upright, but might as well have gone straight in the bin.
Can't beat a nice secure old fashioned stand, especially if it has some sculpted sculpted detail.
Agreed, we actually studied the magnetic base a while back because we want to do it for our Connor and what we found is that trying to cover the whole base is magnets is damn espensive unfortunately, 2 magnets like what InArt did is viable but won't allow for many dynamic poses and for the figure to properly stand on the base without wobbling we need a mgnet that covers a large part of the shoes and more flat surfaces, so we'd rather keep the old method with more varied bases.
Are the winter outfits still in consideration for both Joel and Ellie? Or maybe as an additional separate accessories pack?
Can't wait for both of these two and Nathen!
Yes they are in consideration and being made for the prototypes however we're not sure how or if we should include them.
Excellent all around. Seems rolling eyeballs are the new standard in the sixth scale game. I certainly trust you guys to pull it off on your first attempt. I was wary after the Asmus debacle on Gandalf the Grey, but I think everyone across the board learned from that.
My one concern - and it's a legitimate question and not a complaint - would be able the magnetic arms and necks. I understand the allure - certainly easier to get the pieces on and off when swapping out clothes, but is there any reason to believe the magnets might weaken over time and cause problems with the figure's longevity? Always seemed like a possibility, but you guys would know better than I would.
Are Joel/Nate still going to have wrist peg options or are you just going fully with the seamless magnetic route?
We're using the same factory Hot Toys uses to cast their heads, I'm confident we will pull off the rolling eyeballs with no issues and if there are we won't release a bad product, Arthur's hair took several recasts and attempts before we were able to achieve the effect we wanted with no visible gap and we'll do the same for the eyes just keep in mind there has to be some room for the eyes to move freely.
We've studied and done proper research with our factories, we believe the best method for the neck will be something like Hot Toys has done for Venom or Darth Maul, as far as the arms it shouldn't be a problem since our design has a plot for the magnet to stay in the arm and the connection should be snug anyway, the main concerns with magnets isn't longevity, that can be rectified with quality strong magnets, the concern is magnets have a tendency to fall even with strong glue, especially smaller magnets.
Nate and Joel will still have regular arms with standard hand joints and only interchangeable right seamless arms like previously discussed and agreed on, this is because they both have a watch and there's no way to put them on seamless arms, the good thing is they cover the joint so the look of the figure will still look seamless, of course if there's other characters in the future who can use the seamless arms and don't have watches we'll do both arms and things could change in production, again I would suggest just waiting for the announcement to see the full thing.
