I have the following DVDs:

SS/SW DVD
SDCC 05 DVD
DVD #3
DVD #4

The SDCC one should have the POTA exclusive from last year other than that I don't think they do.

So, for what I gather, both SDCC 05 and DVD #3 are the same... right? I got the SDCC 05 DVD at the con and the cover looks the same as number #3 but it doesn't have the number on it. Is the content the same?

The SS/SW DVD is the one that I've never seen. Does the SW mean Sideshow/Weta or Star Wars? Does anybody know what it contains? Is it worth tracking down?

Yeah, I believe it's the same might have something different on one or the other. Haven't checked it out in a really long time so I'm not sure and I'm not sure if the SDCC one counts as dvd #2 but I think it does.

The SS/SW dvd is about the SW 1/4 line. It's kind of neat talks about Vader and Luke. Can't remember what else it talks about though.

this weta catalog actually shows all lotr weta pieces produced quite up to date when it was published i believe. of course there were more that were made and released since then. from what i know, they were only available in NZ. i think they were only given to the retailers in NZ from sideshow NZ.

i got mine from ebay, there were quite a few copies on sale then. doesnt seem to be on ebay currently though. some pics i've taken of mine below.

Thanks, noelleon69! I'll be on the lookout for one!

If anyone was still thinking about getting this, you better hurry! It dropped from about 30 left to only 15 left in the last two hours or so! And if it gets a news article on the front page of the web site, it will be gone today!!

I got mine! Just barely...

I wasn't going to get it when I saw it in the newsletter but it's an early birthday present to myself. (My birthday is April 11th, hehe) :) :lol:monkey5

I will remember that Fritz. The great eye sees all. :ogat

Oh did I say Chris? Sorry about that, I meant Criss as in Peter Criss from Kiss. :D

The Sf guys are really laughing at us right now.....There is really an anti-Sideshow feeling over there over the last month.

Not mine.

It was updated to "Shipping Soon" on Friday and I am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I hope it ships tonight and shows up tomorrow via good old Fedex.

They are pretty venomous about this. It was cool that SolidLiquidFox stood up for it.

It doesn't make me sad that there are people out there who are such miserable human beings themselves that they must jeer and insult others who have different interests, but what makes me cringe in disbelief is that these are other COLLECTORS who are doing the jeering and insulting. If someone doesn't want this, don't buy it. As someone on Sf said (about another topic): This ain't rocket science.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion about what THEY will do (in this case, to buy or not to buy). Insulting anyone who IS interested in an item such as this is about as childish and ridiculous as it can get, more's the pity because these are fellow hobbyists who evidently must degrade others to feel good about themselves. How shockingly appalling. :sick

Folks, it's a hardbound autographed catalog for $100. If you don't want it, don't buy it. If you want it but think it's too expensive, don't buy it. If you want it and have the funds, buy it.

Yes, I'd say that's MUCH less complicated that rocket science.

I wave my hand and say "Bah" to all the naysayers on statueforum. And since some of "those" people read this forum, shame on you. But mostly, I pity you. Now get the hell off this board. :balrog

I am a strong supporter of both forums but I have to agree they have completely ganged up on this catalog. With the exception of very, very few people like Dave and myself that pointed out that this is not for everyone it is pretty rough over there.

I tell you guys this: collect what you like and what makes you happy. Never mind what others say. We can't all agree on the relevance/collectibility/value of all items released (Sideshow or otherwise) so you gotta accept that and not let it ruin your enjoyment.

As someone who collects a wide variety of items like comics, DVDs, books, statues, sports memorabilia, movie props, anime, Macross toys, among other things I feel pretty confident about myself as a collector. I do find it amusing that, as someone said already, we are all collectors so the very nature of what we do can be considered a waste of money by any given person. It is a big part of the reason why we click in these forums: we get each other's mentality. So, to be judged by fellow collectors for liking a specific item regardless of unperceived value is baffling.

Cheers everyone. I'm waiting for my copy of this catalog with the same excitement as the day I ordered it.

It's only a few people that are ridiculing the "freaks" for wanting to get this item.

But there was similar backlash both here and there about the SD Medicom Star Wars figures. People tend to disparage things before considering them.

I just saw these things in person though and I'm coming around to them, maybe not enough to pay $60 each, but they are definitely cooler than I'd previously thought.

Tonner dolls have been ridiculed here, but there are collectors out there that would favor them much more than a PF of the same character.

Each to their own...
