You know if someone doesn't like something like this I just don't see the point of even commenting about it. A member of another board I post on called this item a rip-off and sad that we and SS where buying/selling it. So it's coming from all over. It's not like this is a sculpture that if something is wrong or someone feels has something wrong that should be commented on. This is one of those take it or leave it items. If you don't like it leave and and why waste your time talking about it?

In the end SS did this as neat little nick-nack item. I bought it to just have it though I already have one signed by most of these folks and a couple more including Andy, Olaf, etc.

I'm actually sorry I read through the whole thing at SF. I have all sorts of things to say but unfortunately, I have to bite my tongue. I can't believe someone made fun, of all things, my name... I haven't heard that since something like elementary school. I always ask that if you're going to make fun of it, at least be witty or original. Yikes.

I know Q. It's pretty sad really. Sadly, I'm not shocked it coming from that board nor some of its members.;)

Sorry Q, I read that post and gave the poster the benefit of the doubt and assumed he knew you or something. I know a lot of people worked hard on this book and it truly is impressive, slipcover and all.

Not only hard work on the book, but on everything - the artists who have signed the book are on the front lines of designing and securing approval for *every single* collectible that Sideshow brings to market, sacrificing a private and family life in a lot of cases (as I've been known to tell my significant other, working in-house at Sideshow is not a job, it's a way of life! :)) - without them, there would be no Sideshow Collectibles... they are NOT the people who bring the coffee and order the fax paper... that would be me, and you don't see my sig on there anywhere do you? :p

Oh well, sometimes it's just easier to make fun... and don't feel too bad Q - I can bet that my name has been made fun of just as much as, if not more than, yours in my lifetime :lol

Who cares? I mean who the hell are those people anyway and why would I want their autographs!?!? :cuss What have they ever done for Sideshow. :p

Now if was signed by the web team, it would be worth something! A Chicky and Dusty autographed piece is where it's at. Although I'm not sure how much Chris and Marc's signatures would devalue it. :p ;) :blissy :horror

PS. Brock's autograph is cool. Did I mention I love the Graboid? :D

Hey Fritz,

I did not get to sign it but for anyone that would like my signature I will include it somehow before it leaves the warehouuse!

I would like you and Dusty to sign mine if you could, it looks like I won't be able to make SDCC this year:sick

That is one of the things that bugged me reading those comments--the idea that none of these people have anything to do with the creative process. To some, it's the sculptor and nobody else. I know that there are tons of people who all work together to provide us with the items that we collect, and this catalog is a nice tribute to their efforts--many of them will never have the fame or recognition of the sculptors, yet their contributions are important to the final product. Comparing the graphic arts team to coffee fetchers and copy makers is insulting.

My only regret is that it hasn't shipped yet!

PM sent... And track Dusty's down while you're at it!!!

I think we may have exhausted this subject and I think Andy's post at SF is a perfect coda for the whole "controversy." But it reminds me a bit of all the groupies that throw themselves at the lead singer of a rock band when it's really the lead guitar player that writes the songs - the singer may be the "face" of the band, but without the writer, they wouldn't be anywhere.

WHOA Dusty-you get someone coffee and ITS NOT ME? first question is: Why is it not me?

Well if she is not getting me coffee then anyone who wants our sigs on their catalog should e-mail her fast before their order ships!

i also will be braving the SF forum. Wish me luck as I may not come back with appendages.

Don't be shy Dave. You can tell everyone you are goping to throw yourself at me!

Jeez, I'm actually embarrassed to be a sculptor right now. The complete lack of respect and appreciation being shown for these folks (who, as Dusty said, are THE blood in Sideshow's veins) is just staggering. Anyone out there who thinks this book is any less worthy because of the absence of the sculptor signatures is clinically insane (ok, maybe just incredibly under-educated.... but insane sounds better).

Dave, good analogy.... I was trying to think of something like that for my post at SF, but my brain is exhausted. You nailed it. :)

I haven't read SF comments, nor do I need to. I get the jist from fellow Freaks.

I think we know which board has the more open minded members and have the more wider range of appreciation. I wont be buying the Catalog, but I still appreciate what it is. I know the outstanding quality of the regular catalogue. I can see it, read it, feel it.

To have one specially bound and signed is just a labour of love from Sideshow. You may call it a money grab, but it just reveals your ignorance, and the lack of attention paid at the years you were at school. To add proof to what I say is too easy, because no one has it, or has seen it, to be in a position to knock it, and I would summise that someone who is knocking it, isn't likely to buy it, therefore those persons are to be classed as a tool, a moron and a cretin.
