Get him, you won't regret it.Really thinking hard about getting that reissue of Arthur. I don't really need him. Lol. John has been my favourite RDR character and I have other 1/6 coming in next year lol.
I feel like Jim Shore figures are still pretty nice overall, and one sixth figures are definitely top notch, but I agree, the quality has dropped on so much over the years it’s hard to get excited about things much.I can relate.I have various collections,Q poskets,Nendoroids, figmas,Jim Shore figurines,Disney limited edition dolls and many other random stuff I collected through years, they don't bring as much joy as they used to and it's not only my fault, quality dropped drastically. However 1/6 figures give me life, especially now when I'm an adult and value the production and art quality. I can't lie,I don't have lot of hot toys,my main collection is third party and mostly game characters, characters who don't get lot of attention,in this way collection feels unique. They always make me smile whenever I see them and seems this is my final stop. Also this community is nice and mature, which I like too. Thanks to Limtoys for giving us this joy, which is priceless! Feels like Xmas came earlier!
Addiction comes in many quises of which I impose strict parameters upon myself, not easy to do. All my stuff is going out the door.Collecting is addictive.
After years of buying Star Wars figures I realised that I was doing it out of habit, and that when they arrived I wasn't thrilled with them at all. While they looked good on display I didn't feel any connection to them. I feel liberated after cancelling a load of Star Wars pre-orders.
I also used to buy a lot random figures just because they looked good, but it's folly most of the time.
Historical figures in particular are much more engaging. Firstly there's the research to check accuracy and the background history they represent; then there's the building of the figure (as opposed to pulling a Hot Toys from the box as a practically display ready item).
RDR figures are a little different because of their videogame source, but as with their weapons they're close enough to get away with. The Schofield in this set, for example, is a selling point because I don't yet have one (apart from a 1:1 replica on the wall).
Jim Shore is amazing, I have so many old ones which are amazing and well painted, in recent years paint quality dropped so much,it made me only upset. Recently prices increased on them and I noticed paint improvements as well, but still far away from the older quality. So rn I'm very selective. He is a true artist and captures magic perfectly! However for such a picky collector as I am, 1/6 is a best option as usually quality and paint issues are either nonexistent or not noticeable, which gives me an opportunity to actually enjoy things. I get so mad if there is one extra dot somewhere, can't unsee it lol Limtoys paint is definitely top notch.I feel like Jim Shore figures are still pretty nice overall, and one sixth figures are definitely top notch, but I agree, the quality has dropped on so much over the years it’s hard to get excited about things much.
That's a thought I have on my own as well..Really thinking hard about getting that reissue of Arthur. I don't really need him. Lol. John has been my favourite RDR character and I have other 1/6 coming in next year lol.
These pre orders aren't going to run out before at least the cut off date right? I might have to hold off for now.
It's listed as a Q4 2023 release but I know R_R_X said that they've been working on getting figures out faster than their previous releases so not sure how that'll effect this figure.this is my first time pre-ordering a figure instead of just biting the bullet and paying resale, realistically how long do these usually take to actually ship out? I know it’s a long time but are we talking 2+ years? or is it just one of those things that you can’t really guess?
The latter. I know with the first gunslinger was delayed and because Lim is very communicative, we know the covid situation is china where the factories are had a lot to do with it. They've said they are working to reduce the turn around time and there is some light at the end of the tunnel for the super harsh lockdowns in China so hopefully this one won't be delayed.this is my first time pre-ordering a figure instead of just biting the bullet and paying resale, realistically how long do these usually take to actually ship out?
