Do I need to have seen any of the X-Men films before seeing this? I've watched both Wolverine movies, but literally stopped watching any X-Men films after X3. Couldn't bring myself to either spend the money or possibly waste the time. But I've heard good things about Logan so I'm just wondering if it'd be a good idea to catch up a little bit to help this viewing experience.

Having a rough understanding of Wolvie's relationship with Prof. X, and the team in general is helpful. But agreed, you don't need to be familiar with the franchise very well to enjoy the film. Shame if you haven't seen X-Men: First Class or Days of Future Past, though. Those are great superhero films.

I'd say X1 (pretty important since this is the movie that establishes Logan and Professor X's friendship), X2 and DOFP would be a good enough foundation to see Logan.

I used to feel that way, but not anymore. Five years is more than enough time for things to turn to ****.
Given what I read in the news every morning, this is a very apt point :lol By 2020 we may well be living here:

:lol:lol

For the record, I wasn't talking about politics or anything to do with society. I was mainly focusing on Charles and Logan's decline as well as the death of the other mutants, considering how DOFP had a happy ending with everyone living happily ever after in the School, and 5 years later things are less than ideal.

Thanks for all the replies. I've seen X1-X3. X3 was just so bad I really had no desire to continue with the franchise. I only saw Wolverine 1 and 2 because they were on TV. Maybe I'll try and catch DoFP before watching Logan.

Thanks again!
