But yeah, kinda like that.
I expected much more, and something less silly.

It started off strong IMO, what with Logan standing beaten and maimed in the grass (?), but as it progressed, it did become sillier and sillier, that's true. The characterization was nice though, I'll give Soule that, and the art was gorgeous. Truth be told, I like the tie-ins a bite more, the Cyclops one especially.

Lots of pics:

Yeah but the roundheadness killed it for me.

Personally, I found the whole "final act" rather weak, but the final shot itself was very powerful IMO.

And I agree that it was far from awful.

It was a solid 6-6.5/10 for me, definitely not something as bad as a Bendis event or an old school "me fight to the deaaaaath" death. That would've been corny as hell.

Re: WOLVERINE (March 3rd 2017)

Logan was born in the late 1800s so he's like 120+ now or at least in this. I assume he ages 1/3 the rate of everyone else.

Nah, Wolverine ages always according to the plot! I say we skip to Doctor-DOOM-Controlled-Skeleton-of-Logan:

Re: WOLVERINE (March 3rd 2017)

This doesn't look remotely like Old Man Logan at all, so I'm already worried. Not that the comic was amazing, but I'm sure this will be a ****** spin on it.

I assume the girl is X23.

This looks like the beginning of the film, with the little girl being his daughter.

Three weeks ago they shot a funeral scene set in Mexico so that's probably when the wife and daughter get killed.

Once he gets in revenge mode he buzzes his head and returns to the classic chops:

The question now is whether or not they're even doing the dystopian future angle.

Well in the films, he was born in 1832. So he's actually 200+ in this movie.

Xavier was born in 1931 so he's 100+.

Yeah, that's what I meant by not thinking this is truly based on OML at all. You can't gauge it from these photos, and I would assume society is still the same... at least more so than OML.

Was that date in Origins? I don't recall.

The buzzed hair and grizzled chops point to OML. Those set pics with the full beard and hair are throwing people off, but they seem to be from the start of the film. Also, the working title for the film is JUAREZ so that's the western OML vibe Kinberg spoke of.

Yeah, it opens in 1845 when he first has his mutation manifest. Mutation in the filmverse starts at 11/12 (puberty).

Re: WOLVERINE (March 3rd 2017)

Oh I'm not saying it's not OML, I just think it's probably only taking certain cues from it. As stated by others, it's probably a hybrid of OML and Death of Wolverine.

Is that supposed to be X-23? If so, TOO YOUNG!!111!!!11!

Plus, a rumoured casting call/breakdown:

That Hashtag Show, whose track record includes nailing the Iron Fist casting, has been able to obtain a possible breakdown for a mysterious young female character, code name "Zoe," that they believe may actually be the mutant clone X-23, who has been widely rumored to have a major presence in the eagerly awaited James Mangold-directed sequel. The breakdown is intentionally vague and doesn't offer much of a hint in regards to her mutant abilities, but the characterization, which describes her being raised in captivity and her personality as being "temperamental, impulsive, and feral," is more or less spot-on with how X-23 has been previously depicted on television and in the comics. Check it out for yourself below:

-Code Name: Zoe

-12-to-15 year-old girl

-A pound puppy, raised in captivity in a time of battle, without support systems of a normal childhood.

-She has no family and until now, has never left the compound in which she was born.

-She has an authentic intensity - Her expressiongs & body language speak volumes, without words.

-Once released in the outside world, everything is new, every experience and every image a first.

-This does not mean everything is wonderful or wonderous. Some thing she sees (things we might regard as conventional) may scare her or anger her and things we may find interesting may bore her.

-She has not been instructed in many social conventions - she can eat like an animal. She studies and often mimics people's behavior.

-She has a high IQ, but is also a temperamental, impuslive and feral creature that can raise genuine mayhem.

-She is a girl that has never been kissed. Looking for a real girl - not made up or done up. Also with genuine edge, not made up or put on.

-Martial arts or gymnastics experience preferred but not necessary - but actress must be extremely physical and able to improvise scenes without necessarily resorting to speech. Do not play it "cute."

Re: WOLVERINE (March 3rd 2017)

I guess this film will serve as both a conclusion to Jackman's Wolvie and an origin for X-23.

Singer did talk about this last month. My guess is we meet her as a child and by the end of the film see her in adult form, setting up her eventual role in X-FORCE.
