Even Terry O'Quinn says that John Locke is dead and gone:

As for his character, O'Quinn says he's really gone. Locke's dead body was rolled out of a metal box toward the end of the two-hour episode, baffling islanders who had been following a Locke imposter. Exactly who is now occupying Locke's body wasn't revealed. O'Quinn said it would be "a good guess" to assume it's a man seen with the infamous Jacob in the beginning of the episode.

"I think, unfortunately, I think it's ended for Locke. But I'm still there, as far as I know," O'Quinn said. "I don't know how it's going to end for this other guy. I'm sad. I miss John Locke, poor guy. He was a pawn."

O'Quinn is gearing up to play a new character when the sixth season begins next year. As for the rest of the story line, he swears he has no idea.

That is a said confirmation, to see Locke, but it just be a shell ... oh well, we can mourn for about 6 months. :monkey2

I would be really sad if Locke is gone:(

I found Faraday`s death pretty sad too,the things he knew and when he was finally gonna accomplish something big he got shot,by that whore of a mother:lol......:(

Did we ever get to know what he did while he was away from the island?I might have missed something here...

Faraday left the island (they didn't show this) and was in Ann Arbour with the Dharma scientists. We can deduce that two things happened--first, he saw a picture of the latest Dharma recruits, including Jack, Kate and Hurley. He also apparently discovered the Dharma plans to drill and break ground for the Swan station, and at that point he hatched his Jughead theory and got back to the island ASAP.

As for Locke, I am of the opinion that he was killed when his father pushed him out of the window, and Jacob brought him back to life. I also think it's possible that Jacob could do the same thing again, so maybe it's not quite the end for one of the show's most popular characters. (It's good to know that Terry O'Quinn will still be around, but I want to see him play Locke, not the Man In Black.) Of course, we have the slight problem that Jacob is apparently dead, but I think he had loophole contingency plans involving his touching of the 815 survivors. I hope we haven't seen the last of Jacob and Locke. It would actually be fun to see a Jacob-resurrected Locke facing off against Faux Locke (who I agree should grow a goatee).

Just noticed something on the Season 5 Poster, look at Faraday on the left,NO FOOT!

I kinda like that Locke died being nothing more than a pawn the whole series. It sucks, its an injustice to the character, and its very disappointing, but then that's sorta how life is. To revive him or whatever would feel way too "let's make a happy ending".

Every person on this show has been a pawn. You really think anyone is in control?? Locke has merely fulfilled his destiny, one that both the MiB and Jacob I believe wanted. Jacob and MiB have been in this power struggle bet thing for awhile now. Everyone else has been set into motion by someone or something else be it Hurley, Locke, Ben, Widmore or Richard.

Dear god no. :banghead

I for one can't wait to see Terry O'Quinn play the baddie, we'll see Locke in a flashback or 2 no doubt so just relax Lockites. :p It's gotta be so much fun as an actor to have a switch up like this. I remember in an interview when the show started that the producers promised him something big but that it would take awhile to percolate.

"I think", he says. Meaning he really hasn't gotten official word from Damon & Carlton. So for all he knows Locke could come back next season, the writers have to realize the importance of Locke to the show & it's fanbase, I don't see his story being finished.

If you see things the way they are now without taking any guesses and only based everything on what we have seen so far....then John Locke is indeed dead. But hopefully he is only dead for now.

At Comic-Con in the past they have said DEAD IS DEAD!!! and then they dedicated a whole episode to this topic titled DEAD IS DEAD. I think John is infact dead and will remain dead.

Well...if they always intended Locke to be dead then his importance to the show was building up exactly for this. Maybe they didn't expect him to have such a fanbase, but if they change their original plans for him just because he's really popular it'd kinda suck imo.

I'm glad they didn't go back on the "dead is dead" ground rule. I'm assuming Other Guy will continue to masquerade as Locke to manipulate the followers and possibly Richard for a time, but how long can that go on? I'd rather see JL as a Hurley vision. They hired an actor to play Other Guy, I'm sure they'll use him again.

Yeah, well it sucks if Locke is dead.

Here is his story.....He is paralyzed and survives a plane crash and can then walk again; he believes he has a destiny and will do almost anything to let him fulfill his destiny. He does a few more things and eventually dies.

If Locke is indeed dead, then I give them a lot of credit for sticking to what they had planned. But at the same time, they have changed plans on short notice lots of times.

The reason I would feel disappointment if Locke is dead is because I was hoping for his character to be so great. I mean I could feel his rise to power coming on strong....but then the door is shut right in his face, truly a tragic story. Now when I see Locke I think what a sad ending this man has.

As there are only 17 hours left, it doesn't have to go on very long.

The big question is, now that MiB has vanquished Jacob and has dominion over the island, what are his plans? Certainly a purge of threats seems likely and some sort of team up of Jack & Richard & the rest to destroy MiB?? Perhaps Jack triggers the destruction of the island, volcano? destruction of Frozen Donkey Wheel?, as Lapidis and others jet off to safety?

I'm still betting on an apocalypse ending, a choice of sacrifice to save others, especially after the heavy influence The Stand seems to have on the story.

I know, I feel the same way, but I guess I like a good tragic story. And maybe its my pessimistic outlook on life, but having the door slammed in your face seems much more realistic to me than a happy ending.

I don't know. I can see the final season of LOST showing that the island is capable of so much more than the Losties, Others, Dharma, and even Jacob and Esau think. "Dead is dead"...maybe the island is going to prove that wrong...
