'Lost: Season 6' and 'Lost: The Complete Collection' on Blu-ray this August

'Lost' fans may be finding their constant in August.

According to TV Shows on DVD, Disney/Buena Vista is already planning to bring 'Lost: The Complete Sixth and Final Season' and 'Lost: The Complete Collection' to Blu-ray on August 24.

The 5-disc Final Season will feature 1080p video, a lossless/uncompressed soundtrack, and supplements will include: Original scripted content that goes deeper into some of the stories, exclusive to Blu-ray and DVD produced by Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse; Bloopers and deleted Scenes; Lost on Location - Go behind-the-scenes and get the stories from the set, on location in Hawaii from the actors and crew who make it happen; Crafting a Final Season - Investigation into the goals and expectations of the season through interviews with writers, producers, cast, and crew; Audio commentaries; and Lost University.

The 36-disc Complete Collection will include all six seasons as well as an exclusive bonus disc with at least 2 hours of additional bonus content.

Suggested list price for the individual season has been set at $79.99, while the box set is $279.99.

'Lost: Season 6' and 'Lost: The Complete Collection' on Blu-ray this August

Sweet, Lost was always a super long wait for DVD collections. They always held it back to use it to cross-promote the upcoming season. This season wraps up in May, doesn't it??

That's a thoughtful sign of appreciation to all the fans who have been buying them one season at a time and would otherwise only need to pick up the season six set.

At any rate, I'm most interested in the "original scripted content that goes deeper into some of the stories." Maybe that will be their chance to answer some of the lingering questions (Dharma food drops, etc.) that they won't have time to answer appropriately within the context of the final season.

Yes, ends around mid-May....possibly the last week of May, that all depends on if they decide to have a one week break somewhere in the middle of the season. But they did say the finale will premiere in May.

And with the DVDs coming out in August, it is the fastest turn around for a release for LOST yet!!! As others said, most likely because the show is over and they don't have to release the DVD later to promote the next season.

They are neither the first, nor the last Complete Series set to include exclusive content. I sold off my AlLIAS single seasons for the box set, and my Buffy single season sets for the same reason. I only bought the first 3 seasons of LOST on DVD, and sold them last year in anticipation of this set. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't more thrown in for the full series set by the time August rolls around.

And I hope that's not the final box art. The season 5 Dharma set gave me high hopes for a collectors edition of the complete series.

Anybody else taken a look at this timeline from NYTimes??

This must be wrong, because it says Rousseau arrived on the island in 1988 and The Purge was in 1992. That can't be right, because The Purge signified when Ben joined The Others, but Ben kidnapped Alex when he was an Other, and that had to have been no more than a year after Rousseau arrived. The Purge must have happened before Rousseau's arrival, right??

You're assuming that The Purge was when Ben joined the Others. I think that they had been working together long before that, with Ben acting as their inside man amongst Dharma for many years. Throughout the 80's and up until '92, Ben (with young Ethan under his wing) still lived at the barracks, but had obviously been sneaking out at nights and building a relationship with Richard and friends. The two of them survived the purge due to their advance knowledge/cooperation and lived amongst the Others afterwards. But I think Ben chose sides and began a cooperative relationship with them all the way back in '77.

Ben was ready to join them after he was healed as a boy, but I have a feeling that Widmore dangled that carrot in front of Ben throughout many years worth of tests--"You can't join us until you spy on Dharma...and kill Rousseau and the baby. OK, now you can't join us until you kill your father." In fact, I think that Widmore's relationship with Ben mirrors Ben's own treatment of Locke as he was strung along and tested before his acceptance into the Others. (And both Widmore and Ben ended up losing their position of authority to the newcomer.)
