-The side reality....is this perhaps how their lives would have been if Jacob never touched those select few? Quite possibly yes, because we know that by Jacob touching them....it led to the path that we saw in Seasons 1-5. But if he didn't, then the side reality is what happens and the Island is under water.

I am not sure if this was mentioned, but the side reality is what might have happened if the plane had not crasheed, but each character is slightly diffferent. Kate enjoys being a criminal. Hugo is happy and considers himself lucky, not cursed. etc

Not just the plane crashing, but even the Others like Ben and Ethan were never on the island.

i assumed that everything after the explosion at the end of series 5 in 1976 (i think that was the right year off the top of my head) would have changed. that explosion caused the island to sink/be destroyed meaning that none of the other chain of events that happened after 'the incident' could occur, explaining why the plane didnt crash, but also why ben and ethan werent already on the island.

Ok, several things.

-The kid that appeared to Flocke was Jacob, perhaps being reborn and rapidly regenerating back into his older form? When he said to Flocke you cannot kill him, etc....He was referring to Sawyer (the candidates).

-Sawyer is important to Flocke as we saw when he was saving James from falling to his death. This in turn can screw Flocke over as Sawyer can have more control/influence is he is that important to Flocke.

-Sawyer is aware of what Richard told him. Sawyer will play it out for now, but he is not taking sides right now...regardless of his "hell yeah", he is a con-man after all.

-So we know the numbers are associated with our main characters who are candidates.....they are all candidates to take over Jacobs job or protecting the island. We know Flocke said that it's just an island, that coming from a 'man' who can turn into a pillar of smoke and take the form of others? And island that has cured cancer, cured paralysis, had immortal beings walk on it....this island is not just an island.

-I think it is still unclear whom is good and whom is evil....is there a good or evil side in this conflict? What deems evil on this island? Maybe MIB's actions are evil but what his action will achieve is for the better, and Jacobs actions are for the better but with the ultimate outcome being evil. Or the other way around.

-The real John Locke is not finished yet. It seems as if the real John Locke is somewhere inside of Smokey's human form. Crazy or not, I could see John Locke somehow retaking his form back from Smokey. Either way John Locke will return, Darlton have said he is important to the story and I don't think a dead John Locke is the answer.

There's much more.

Awesome episode. I consider this to be the honest first episode of this season!!

I would write my comments but I agree with everything that Nightcreeper said. :)

So Ben wasn't lying when he said that if Widmore found the island, they were all going to die. It would litterally be the end of the world if MiB left the island, hence why the gang protecting Jacob call themselves "the good guys".

But then is Ben on MiB side? He did kill Locke, he did insist that Locke had to be on that plane, he did unleash Smoke Monster when his daughter got killed, he did round up the people "on Jacob's list"...

I don't think Ben and Widmore know the truth behind the island. Obviously Ben had no idea, as evidenced by his shock and awe when Smokey unleashed himself in the statue. And if Widmore knew that if the MiB was unleashed the world would end, that would also mean his daughter would die, and that seems contrary to everything we've seen from him so far.

Perhaps, Widmore has never seen Jacob either and is only following what Richard told him.

Kate not being amongst the numbered stands out to me, and the point regarding Ben not really knowing about Smokie is a good one; he seemed to be able to unleash him at one point, so what happened with that? :dunno

I am not quite sure how giving a kid a pen/etc would manipulate them into life decisions leading one to the island, but we'll see.

Yeah, I really want to know that too!

It's one of those things that seems so much in contradiction that it makes me wonder if the writers decided on the identity of smoky between season 5 and 6.

Hope that's not the case!

I am actually inclined to believe MiB when it comes to this, if for no other reason than I like it better than the alternative. I don't want to see him be explained as a demon or an alien or a trans-dimensional being because that is more information than I want revealed and a bit to far out.

Keep in mind that he said that he used to be a man, not that he still was one. So his current abilities (being able to "turn into a pillar of smoke and take the form of others) do not discredit his claim to once being a man.

How did he become what he is now? How did Jacob become what he did (I assume he was once human too).

Answer:The Island. That is the one and only truly supernatural character in the show.

Jacob seems to be a Davey Jones of sorts, but he's guarding something that doesn't need protecting ....

:huh

just a quick theory of why someone's name is not on the wall............they could have been brought to the island to manipulate or direct the actions of the "candidate".............

Awesome episode!!
I honestly think Kate will die...

It's interesting how the alternate reality is unraveling... they are all still connected...

And I agree, Ben's part during Locke's burial was amazing!
Can't wait for next week!!!
:rock!!!
