Or, they just didn't show all of the names written on the wall during those few shots.:google

Of course that's the obvious question.

What we need to find out is whether all the numbers were represented (4.8.15.16.23.42).

If they all were then the missing Kate was intentional.

I'm gonna go back and re-watch it.

This parallels Desmond's original storyline where he was waiting for his replacement to stay on the island and type in the numbers; a guardian of sorts waiting to be relieved.

I also really liked the part where they paralleled MIB yelling "No one can tell me what I can or can't do" at the ghost-boy with Locke having yelled the same thing at the guy who told him he couldn't go on the walk-a-bout.

I thought about it during the episode and wondered about Kate as well. Here are the names from the ceiling...

4 - Locke
8 - Reyes
15 - Ford
16 - Jarrah
23 - Shepherd (23rd Psalm - "The Lord is my shepherd...")
42 - Kwon

Check the other Psalms... they could be "interpreted" for each lostie... :D

I didn't see Kate's name on the walls, nor Charlie's, Claire's, etc. Quite a few survivors weren't on the walls...

Keep in mind, about Kate and everyone else, that we didn't see every single name marked out on the ceiling... they could have been there and just marked out.

Maybe Locke is still in there somewhere trying to get out? :horror

42 - Kwon

And which Kwon ;).

The writers wouldn't be lazy enough to make the numbers all correspond to the same source (i.e. Psalms) but I think Lonnie is on to something in that there certainly is a point of reference for every name.

:banana

And which Kwon ;).

Jacob touched both of them.

I also remember back at the end of season 2 when Jack, Sawyer and Kate were being taken, the Others said one of them was not on the list. maybe they were refering to Kate, who isn't on the cave list.

I and a friend of mine just threw random numbers between 1 - 150 (the books in psalms) and randomly chose names.

49 - Charlie
67 - Claire
31 - Ekko

Each has things in them which you could interpret as having to do with that character so I am not sure that this is the source of the numbers.

:)

I've been a bit "underwhelmed" with this last season so far. There have been a few "oh, cool" moments but I'm just not getting drawn in like before. I think the problem is that we've been thrown so many curves already, in regards to who is supposedly good and bad, that I'm feeling really detached from the characters.

To be honest, it's been the quieter moments that have provided the most impact for me. Jack and Locke at the airport "lost and found" office, Kate and Claire at the hospital and Ben's eulogy for Locke, for example.

There is a third Kwon.

It's very satisfying to see theories you've had for years since the pilot ep begin to play out in the show. :rock Seems only a matter of time before Jack becomes the new island protector.

Awesome to see the black and white stones, the numbers, the list all set up from the very beginning of the show return. Should reassure people theorizing that they haven't had a master plan and resolution in place.

That is because the creators of list follow the message boards and decide which fan had the coolest idea and incorporate it into the show. :D

I don't see Jack being the new island protector (if all that is true) I see it playing out like someone else said Locke is still alive in Flocke and he has to fight that battle to take back over his body and then he becomes the protector of the island. If it is any of them who should be the protector of the island is Locke.

Just cause they had two stones in the beginning and two stones now, doesn't mean that planned that out at all. They tossed them in there in the beginning to create some mystery and decided to figure it all out later is my theory.

One thing that has been bugging me...

Why the hell does lock not have rigor mortis? Surely after being dead for several weeks it would have set in by now? :slap

In humans it commences after about 3 hours, reaches maximum stiffness after 12 hours, and gradually dissipates until approximately 72 hours (3 days) after death.

I was a little sad when Lapidus called him 'ripe'.

Kwon = Jin

Not only are all other "candidates" men, but more importantly, Jin jumped to the 70s with ALL OTHER CANDIDATES, whereas Sun did not. This, in effect solves the mystery as to why Sun was stuck with the rest of the passengers from Ajira Flight 316.

Interesting. I didn't know that. Bugg squashed. :lol

I am watching last week's episode again and it's funny that all the Others are calling the characters by their last names which are the same names that Jacob goes by. They even make a point of calling Sawyer 'Ford' and Jack doesn't know who Ford is.

Someone said earlier that they think Jack will be the new protector. I don't see how you can say Jack is the protector when there are technically 3 Sheperds on the island. Jack, Christian, and Claire (from a certain point of view).

My guess for the new protector is either Sawyer or Locke. Sawyer was the other choice for the man in the coffin a few seasons back and I truly believe Locke will come back in some fashion.
