BTW, has the question of the identity of the two skeletons in the cave ever been answered? From waaaay back in season 1?

Some great news about an original LOSTIE coming back. Obviously spoilery!!!:D

Maggie Grace, who played Shannon on Lost, will return to the ABC drama later this season, executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse confirmed to EW.com. “We’re really excited about having her back on the show,” says Cuse, “and we have a good story for her.” The producers would not specify how many episodes she would appear in. An original cast member, Grace exited the show in season 2 when her character — the spoiled stepsister of Boone — was killed off, though she did resurface in a season 3 episode. Harold Perrineau, Cynthia Watros, and Rebecca Mader are among the other dearly departed who will guest-star in Lost’s sixth and final season.

This parallels Desmond's original storyline where he was waiting for his replacement to stay on the island and type in the numbers; a guardian of sorts waiting to be relieved.

I was thinking about that too. . . how the Swan station is a replica of the island. Kelvin waiting for a replacement, to prevent the end of the world, Desmond asking "Are you him?" it seems to mirror the "candidate" scenario MiB described.

Keep in mind, about Kate and everyone else, that we didn't see every single name marked out on the ceiling... they could have been there and just marked out.

That's true, but with all the numbers being used for each candidate, if Kate's number is 28 or something that's not part of "The Numbers" then it's still significant.

Just cause they had two stones in the beginning and two stones now, doesn't mean that planned that out at all.

Seems pretty obvious if you look it, the discussion of a contest of between 2 sides - light and dark, the vision of Locke's dual identities, the Adam and Eve skeletons, that they knew exactly what the BIG story was and where it was headed, back in the pilot episode.

I don't see how you can say Jack is the protector

b/c it fits the themes of the show and everything about Jack, his central role on the show, and everything they've built up about his character arc and journey for 5 years. I said Jack would have to make a personal sacrifice based on faith and become the savior of the island (he and Kate becoming the Adam and Eve skeletons) waaay back in season 1 and I'm sticking to it.

Okay, I had a problem with Hurley having won the lottery when the numbers don't exist in the Sideways Reality. Along the same lines - Locke's fiance mentioned that Locke's father would be at the wedding. That most likely means that dad didn't toss him out a window - so why is he paralyzed?

I think both of these things happened because they were destined to happen. Jacob influence or not, Hurley was going to win the lotto, Locke was going to get paralyzed, and Claire was destined to keep Aaron

Yeah, I don't think we're going to get specific answers to how those events played out differently but with the same outcome - it's the man in the red shoes, or Charlie dying all over again. Course correction, flexible destiny, Bokononism, ka.

So the numbers are the candidates,Desmond were typing the numbers into the computer to prevent a disaster, but when he forgot to type in those numbers it causes the plain crash...and Jacob got what he wanted, his candidates to the island,so why the hell should the numbers be typed into the computer if it prevents the Plain to crash, not sure this has any meaning, just a random code Desmond typed in but this is lost so...you never know :lol

I think she was being sarcastic.

I'm having a problem with the sideways reality. I get that the point is that all these people are tied together by destiny or whatever, but it feels gimmicky.

As for the boy, I agree that it is Jacob. But when I first saw the kid Aaron was my first thought because he does look alot like Claire. But it being Aaron just doesn't seem to make sense.

While I do think that they have had the big story planned from the beginning, all of those things only point to a classic good vs. evil story. Nothing there points to anything specific that's been revealed. I think alot of the little details have been refined along the way. Hell all three of those things are in Star Wars. Well the skeletons is a bit of a stretch...

when you boil it down, that's what this story appears to be. Basically a Book of Job story with man's free will to choose good or evil.

Nothing there points to anything specific that's been revealed.

After his talk of duality, light and dark, good evil, I think the vision of John Locke with one black eye and one white in the pilot specifically pointed to his split as "good" and "bad" Locke, as did the season 2 "Bad Twin" novel, and the season 3 mention of Expose's "The Cobra", a character the audience had already met revealed to be the big bad guy in the fifth season of the show. They told Terry O'Quinn when they wrote the role for him that he'd be a very important character with some interesting meaty acting challenges that would take awhile to get to. Between the bits planted and the fact that Damon is a huge King fan, especially The Dark Tower whose deep influence is keenly a part of Lost's themes, characters and time bending story, I'm very confident when first breaking the show they had the whole Locke will become MiB, the big antagonist of the series plot point firmly planned. And of course we'll see how the skeletons play out.

Like I said, I think they planned alot of stuff out, but I think they've made up alot as they went along. You can have hints about duality and that Locke would go from good to bad, that doesn't indicate they had anything more than a desire to tell a good vs. evil story and that it would eventually center around Locke.
