I don't think Richard is dead.

I also don't think Ben is going to do what Smokey wants. Nobody is better at playing people than Ben, and now he's playing Smokey. Just as he was the one to kill Jacob, I think Ben will be the one to kill Smokey (or at least he'll try).

Would be a pretty lame way for Richard to go out if he was dead. I also agree that Ben is playing Smokey, I think it would be out of place for this character if he did join up with Smokey. Him killing Whitmore was just revenge for his daughter.

Hmmm I hope you're right Michael. It just seems a waste of some wonderful character development if he joins Smokey.

Let's also not forget that Ben feels betrayed by Smokey. Being betrayed (or feeling that way) was why he killed Jacob, and might be part of why he could do it in the first place.

This is still bugging me - I already asked it, but it's a couple pages ago now. Why couldn't Richard just be Jacob's replacement?

Very good question, and I also don't think he's dead (too easy being off camera, not to mention the inability to die earlier with the dynamite).

The "whisper scene" really pissed me off , I guess fortunately we got some kind of a reveal once Flocke told Ben what he said. :slap

I don't believe Widmore or Richard are dead. Remember Widmore said to Ben that he was always steps ahead of him, so he was probably prepared for Ben to do what he did. Bullet Proof Vest?

Yea, but Widmore wasn't two steps ahead - Smokey knew the C4 would be on the plane, in fact he was depending on it. Widmore's just arrogant.

As to Richard's murder (the one he committed) invalidating him, that's doubtful, since both Kate and Sawyer (as well as a number of other now defunct candidates) are also murderers.

I will bet that Richard and Widmore are both still alive. They both deserved a closeup, well acted death and they were both taken out from a distance. We'll seem them both again.

I heard the same arguements about Ana Lucia and Libby.

Richard is likely still alive, but I think Widmore is dead.

I couldn`t care less if Widmore is dead, but Richard is one of my very favourite characters so i would hate to see him go out this way.

I loved Jacob`s explanation why he brought them to the Island.

I doubt we will ever get an answer to one of my top questions, the flashes in season 5 before Locke turned the wheel. But Like Faraday said himself, maybe it is the mind jumping back and forth, not the Island and Desmond is a good example on that, jumped back and forth until he found his constant(Penny).
Can the explanation be as simple as an temporary error? It fixed itself after Locke turned the wheel so...

And the second Oceanic crash, why didn`t Sun end up in the 70`s like the rest of the oceanic six?

Maybe Sun didn't go back to the 70's 'cause she wasn't the candidate, Jin was? We don't which of the two were the candidate, right? So much info, so little brain...

Probably, but Kate wasn`t originally one of the 6 candidates either, but might be a twist...

#4. "Locke"
#8. "Reyes"
#15. "Ford"
#16. "Jarrah"
#23. "Shephard"
#42. "Kwon"

After thinking about it, I think the Widmore death was a disappointment. They had placed a lot of emphasis on him the last couple of seasons and I expected him to play a bigger part in the whole thing. Kind of a letdown.

I think Ben is playing the MIB. He had his chance to kill Penny once before and didn't.

P.S. Desmons rocks. :rock
