I hope that he sees his mom again and she tells him, "You've done well. It is time now." then turns into the smoke monster and rips him a new one.

:rotfl :rotfl yea, I hope the smokey "mommy" pulls a mr. eko on ben as well. But the real thing I want to know is if the hostiles really are immortal. I had a theory, but it's probably wrong, that the hostiles are actually manifistations of the island (like the ones smokey can produce). That the "hostiles" do the bidding of the island, but that's a little TOO twilight zone even for my own tastes. Or they could just be clones.

I haven't heard that one yet. But I think it undermines the dramatic tension if any of the people we meet turn out to be unreal, same deal if they were already dead or if it all turns out to be a dream. Even if it's nutty, throw it against the wall and see if it sticks is my motto with theorizing about this show.

This sounds likely. Ben implied that they were protecting the island by purging the Dharma researchers, that they live in harmony with the island whereas the Dharma bums did not. The Others serve the will of Jacob, his hands if you will, and Jacob seems to be indivisible from the power of the island, so perhaps, in a way, they serve the island itself.

EDIT: And the producers have already shot down the clones theory.

He's so very dissapointed.

As much fun as it might be if one of the skeletons was Jack's and he discovered/searched his own corpse, I'm now leaning towards the remains being those of Amelia Earhart and her co-pilot Frederick Noonan. It just fits better and ties the island into a greater "lost time" mystery.

If I had to make a guess, I think you are right. We know that the skeletons will end up being important. They said that they put them in back during the first season on purpose, so that when something happens near the end of the show and they get accused of making it up as they go along, they will be able to point back to the skeletons as proof that they were thinking of the plot twist the whole time. But what exactly the presence of the skeletons proves to us is a mystery to me...

I agree. I don't think the identity of the skeletons is nearly as interesting as why they were found with one white rock and one black rock and the fact that Jack took them and and didn't tell Locke when asked what had been discovered. Then Locke had the whole conversation with Walt about backgammon, one side light the other dark, and Claire the dream of Locke with one white eye and one black (the duality of Locke/Jacob mayhaps?). I think this goes to the heart of the nature of the island - tests of character, sacrifice, wish fulfillment - and what Goodwin talked about when he killed the tailie because he was not "a good person". Who on the island is good and who is bad?

The last few paths have made me really feel like I need to watch season one again ... argh! :monkey4

It sounds like a lot of major spoilers are getting out regarding the season finale. If (like me) you don't want to be spoiled, be careful what you read online! I am keeping away from fan sites until after next Wednesday night has come and gone.

And out of courtesy to others, please either keep from posting any season finale spoilers here in the next week or include an obvious warning at the top of your post so we know not to read...

I'm doing the same. Theories are fine and I'm ok with the producers answering & hinting at things in the podcast, but where's the fun in finding out exactly what is going to happen before you see it??

I just finished watching tonight's episode...for those of you who haven't seen it yet, don't watch next week's preview! I'm not happy with how much they showed of the finale. Usually the previews are a bit cryptic. Not this week!

Great episode, btw. But more on that later.

Great episode. Charlie is fun to watch.

You're right about the preview Batty, it did show a couple of things I wish they'd held back, but it really whet my appetite for next week.

I'm alive, I'm alive .... oh wait, perhaps Juliet IS double-crossing us!?

Could be...or it could be a lie Ben told to Juliet to keep her in the dark.

Why is Rousseau so interested in helping all of the sudden?

I thought it was interesting that they didn't actually show Desmond's vision of Charlie dying. I have a feeling he's still going to die. :monkey2

I was kind of disappointed not to see anything about Locke. Maybe that's it for him this season.

Hey, it's Rose and Bernard!

Have we seen the girl in the alley before? When Charlie saved her my wife said that it was Sayids girlfriend but I did not think it was...

anyone know?

I said the same thing to my wife when I saw her. She agreed.

I think its her.

I think we will see Locke at the very end of the season finale, somehow.

I am also hoping to see Nikki one last time....

:D

I think that the woman that Charlie saved was Sayid's girlfriend. Was the mugger anyone that we have seen before? I think that Locke shows up at the end of next weeks episode and rips Ben a new one.

Don't know about Rousseu. Maybe Jack talked to her about Alex.

Yea Rose and Bernard are back! But for how long? Rose talking about staying with her husband made me feel we won't see them next season. I think the 3 shooters, Sayid, Bernard and Jin are in big trouble.

Yeah that was Nadia in the alley. Was one of the women with the rifles in the Looking Glass Cassidy, the woman Sawyer conned and Kate befriended?

The reason we didn't see Desmond's vision is because he knew Charlie wasn't going to die by drowning. He was reluctant to tell Charlie anything and looked uncomfortable when mentioning the flashing yellow light or Charlie saying how simple it was going to be. If he told Charlie exactly what he saw it might change things. I agree that I think he'll die turning off the radio transmitter - Greatest Hits was just too much of a send off - maybe he really will flood the station and I bet we'll get a woefully few answers and hints at answers from the Looking Glass peeps. And if it is Cassidy, What is she doing down there? Anyone think Claire and Aaron will indeed get on the chopper, right before Ben destroys it? That would be shocking, lifting off, cue the hopeful rescue music, then blam a missle or something explodes the helicopter.

We'll see Locke again in the finale I think, but I'm beginning to doubt they'll deal with Jacob again.

Anyone catch Charlie's lament "all we have are our memories". a Hint?

Just got to watch this week's episode downloaded off iTunes, and that doesn't include the preview for next week. So the one time I miss the preview, it sounds like it's a good thing since it apparently contains spoilers.

I just loved the conclusion of this episode--I was mentally prepared for the long expected outcome and then got a little surprise instead. This leaves us with a lot to cover in next week's finale!

Anyway--is there a reason that they didn't just blow up the cable and leave the underwater station stuck without electricity?
