Last night's newsletter mentioned that the 12" LOTR figure line is NOT dead, regardless of the rumors circulating.

My guess is that the line has not reached the morgue yet but is in an ambulance racing to the hospital emergency room...

Here's looking forward to whatever news is supposedly coming soon.

They've said twice now this week the lines not dead, in the ambulance, etc. How much more do you folks need to quit freaking worrying so much. :lol

hold on to faramir tight when he arrives because we probably won't have another LOTR 12" in-hand until mid 2008. :(

Geez, and I thought the petty murmering (chicken little style) was bad about Anakin... You guys who are SO SURE the LOTR 1:6 (and PF) is dead are acting with an awful lot of silly presumption, as if you all know so much more than someone who works IN SIDESHOW... who can I liken you all to?

You guys are a bunch of Dumb Denethor's. :monkey5  :lecture

i was surprised people think they are dead, i don't think they are dead but it takes a long time from announcement/preorder till delivery. but it does make it easier to collect them because of the long time between figures/statues.

Sad but true.

I am very glad I dropped this line for the GG busts. The 12" line is a great one but it's going to get burried by the GG busts when they have 20 busts to only 4-5 12" figures by this time next year.

Although moving at a snails pace, the amount or lack of announcements and shipping has allowed me to make sure I keep all of the LOTR figures at least. I'm praying that we get hit this summer with at least three new figures. Then one that announces but obviously won't shipping until into 2008. My wishlist?

:gandalf :nazgul :saruman :arwen

While I would like to see the pace pick up a little bit, I like the slow pace. Its alot easier on the wallet.

They're different animals. I want a faster pace but honestly I don't mind the slower pace as it's easier on my wallet. Also announcments are nice but out of how many of the GG busts are in hand? 2 with a third coming in the next 2-3 weeks which is as many LOTR 1:6th that are out. So GG may be making a lot of announcments they're not dropping a lot of stuff in hand. Not to mention it's a lot easier to do a bust than to make the outfits for the 1:6th pieces.

weird the way there is a long time between announcement, preorder and shipping. i looked on the sideshow website and didn't understand why the awesome spiderman stuff isn't coming out until september. that's five months! i would have loved it if they sold this four months ago so they would be coming out next month. :monkey2 what i had to ask myself is will i really be into spiderman 3 five months after the movie comes out? i couldn't answer that question. do they ever project a release date and the item comes out sooner? hope hope

Don't worry Spidey 3 will get another boost when the DVD's/Blu Rays hit store shelves and you'll have all the SS products in time for that. :)

I did not have sexual relations with that woman.

Im probablie one of the few who like the lotr 1/6 being only 3 or 4 figure a year. It means i can afford them as well as getting all my other 1/6th fix (star wars, robocop, aliens, terminator, doctor who and more).
The quality of the figures is fantastic and those costumes a damn complecated, so if sideshow want to take there time perfecting a figure, i aint worried about waiting.

I checked this thread and couldn't find anyone stating that the line was dead. All I brought up was that while not officially dead, it wasn't exactly alive and kicking.

It's definitely an issue when Sideshow has to make an official response in their own newsletter, stating that the line is not dead. The lack of even an new announcement for a new figure in the last several months hasn't exactly helped.

The slow release timetable may be welcomed by those of you collecting several other lines, but for those of us having this one as one of a few or even only line being collected, it's been kinda disappointing.

Maybe this statement from SS will help ease things a bit:

Sideshow Collectibles: The LOTR 12-inch line is definitely NOT coming to an end. There are several characters in development, but we're not quite ready to announce (or tease) which character will be next! We're hoping that once the next pre-order is live, we can keep a steady flow of LOTR figures (true for the Premium Format line also), and avoid any long waits between releases in the future.

All the stuff in BOLD sounds promising to me! :D

OK you didn't say it is dead... You just said it was almost dead. We stand corrected. :lol

I think the reason so many people are getting frustrated with the two LOTR lines is that we got spoiled by all the Star Wars announcements, thinking it would be the same with LOTR.
