God, I hope you're right, man! They've GOT to hit it outta the park, and I don't think they'll let us down. And I for one am praying the first "new body" figure is Gimli. Then we'll at least have the Three Hunters of the Fellowship done.

Gotta agree. Gimli is the one I want next. Or Gandalf the Grey.

I can see a figure like Gimli being the cause for delay. I mean, h'es basically an armored character who would also necessitate some way to portray him helmeted and unhelmeted; he's also got a fantastically detailed costume that will be twice as hard to do because it's half the size! Even for a full size figure that's hard, but at only 7-8 inches?!? That's insane! Plus he's got almost a half dozen axes AND his gear AND the outfit AND packaging etc. etc. etc.....

I bet he'll be one of the best figures in the line though!

Heck, if they wanted to make some fillers, they can start with Rohirrim guards, or Numenoreans, or High-Eleven Archers. I wouldn't balk at any of those! Even a disheveled Dunlending would be nice if they didn't want to resort to some fancy armor. Once they've got the armor nailed, I can see a Haradrim, Easterling, or Gondorian. Note that I've only touched on using a human sized figure . . .

In short, there's no reason Sideshow couldn't expand into this territory for fillers.

I completely agree that Gimli will be tough to do justice to in 1:6 scale.
But all the characters I could see causing delay for various reasons. Getting the beards right will be a challenge with Gandalf and Saruman. Has SS done 12" figures with really long beards before? Of course the body issues for dwarves and hobbits. Any character with armor is going to be tricky and take awhile (see Leia as Boussh delay) - Eowyn as Dernhelm, Theoden, Elessar, Eomer, and any solider whether they're Elves or Men or Orcs, Uruks and Ringwraiths.

The only ones I could see as "easier" to produce would be Elrond, Arwen and Eowyn in gown. After seeing these costumes in person, I have no idea how they are even going to come close to achieving the same details. Boromir was really impressive but I don't think they should even bother trying Galadriel after seeing the insane micro detail beading.

I'm almost positive it's simply delays due to bodies and outfits. The costumes are insanely difficult to perfect; getting them at 1:6 scale is hard enough, but to do it at half that size and still make it look good? I don't think it's just hobbit bodies; I think the clothing is also a huge part of it. Faramir was a good filler (or should I say, the jewel of the line :D ), but I'm sure we'll get something soon, if not another filler. Maybe Gandalf the Gray? or Saruman? Who knows, but what my heart tells me is that the line is going to blossom pretty soon!

Good point about the clothes Cap'n, I hadn't thought of that but you're right.

Aren't you passing on this line? So does it matter. :p

I am and it's mainly because of the pace. The GG busts aren't as nice as the 12" line can be, but I liked the GG Strider more than the 12" and that was the nail in the coffin. As much as I hate GG's policies at times, they do make some really good products. I'm just affraid many more will be jumping from this line to the GG busts and we'll never see the full potential that this line has.

now that the quality of this line has sucked me in i have noticed they announce one every 6 months or so and then you have to wait another 6 months or so for it to be shipped....too long.....but i'm staying with this line.

Indeed too long, but Legolas and Boromir weren't too far apart. I think it's just taking them a while to figure out how to effectively produce them, and then after the next few figures we'll start to see big jumps in the line--they still have to perfect the costumes on the figures they have coming up, plus they have to decide what accessories to include, packaging, clothing issues at various scales and on a variety of characters. Give them time; it will start to roll soon enough! Then all shall marvel at Sideshow's greatest line--LOTR 1:6 scale figures!!! :joy

This line is just amazing and we're only three figures in. Each figure is getting better than the last. We're close I think to seeing a nice flow to the line and once that happens people will be wanting back in. I have no doubts we'll see just how amazing the potential is in this line.

According to SSC once the next 12" LOTR preorder is announced there will be a much better flow of the line.(fingers crossed)

I pray that this is true... But I kinda don't want sidehow to go too crazy in how they pace this line (ala Star Wars). :google

It's hard to say how much is too much for me. I'd love to see a new LOTR fig on my shelf every other month but there's so much other stuff I want to get as well.
