this was probably the line of figures that got me into action figure collecting. so well done, the detail, and as the line went on, the figures kept getting better and better. the line lasted quite a while, from 2001 to 2005, 2 years after ROTK hit theaters. they made practically every character, main or background. they even made theodred, who had no lines at all! of course there were the large creature figures as well like the cave trolls, treebeard, deluxe sauron, fell beast, etc. the horse and rider sets were one of my favorite parts of the line. the articulation was top notch, su superb sculpting, great scale. i dont have every figure, but i am close to haveing a complete collection. i will get some pics up soon, but who else collected this line? a few years later, i still think its one of the best if not THE best movie based line of figures, even better then star wars IMO.

I was into this line as well. Just got addicting after awhile. The figures kept getting better and better in sculpts and details. Love that they went all out with this one, especially with the creatures as you mention. But I must say that I was very disappointed with the fell beast. They shrunk that monster down in size which sucked a$$, especially when I tried to recreate a scene. Best figure from this line for me was Sauron, Witch King, Lurtz and Cave Troll. I donated a lot of my collection to a Elementary School but I still have alot still sealed in my basement in bins.

Almost forgot about Tree Beard too!!!!!! Man, I don't think they left anything undone. I even got most if not all of the variants and chase figs too.

i know! right next to the star wars line, LOTR's covered practically every character and creature. and toybiz even had ideas for a balrog, but it was too big for them. BUT, neca wound up doing an accuratly scaled one so we even got a balrog! and yes, the fell beat was small but still, its not terrible cept for the head that kept falling off mine, but the wings were huge and goes well with the balrog. i still have alot of my collection displayed. i gotta get some pics up today of it. i started collecting the line near the end of its run, aybe around 2004. they were still in stores, but then when the line ended, i would up haveing to go online for most of the others, especially the creatures and horse sets. ill never forget when i found a ROTK battle troll in the clearance bin at TRU for 3 dollars, then when i went on ebay that same troll figure is going for 50 dollars! but im a loose collector, i love displaying my stuff.

This was the line to get me into everything as well. In fact last month when I was home I went through my closet to clean it out and got my entire TB collection neat and organized into a storage container. I will never get rid of these guys. TB did a phenomenal job with every figure. My personal favorites would be the easterling, battle troll, and treebeard.

Damn!!! This thread just made me go dig through my basement and took out what I had left. Lots of loose figs and close one's too. Just brought back some good memories. Still don't know what I'm gonna do with them. Might have to sell these off :(

i am looking for a super-posable Strider and super-posable Gandalf the grey, if anyone has these 2.

and i sooooooo want an easterling, even if they only had a few minutes of screentime! someone said they were in the battles in ROTK if you look really hard but i didnt see them, so i dont know if thats true.

Besides these, I found crap load of Mcfarlane figs I totally forgot I even had!!!!

Nice collection you have there on display. I remember having a hard time with some of these to hold a pose. But I love that Sauron fig. One of the best figs that was made.

Loved the Toybiz line. I guess it would have been the line that got me into eventually collecting more substantial collectibles. I just recently had to pack all 60+ away because I just don't have the room to display them anymore.

When the battle trolls break through the main gate at Minas Tirith they follow shortly behind. I didn't notice the first couple times but they are there.

Yup, it's true. Look hard enough and you'll see several gold Easterling helms in the background.

I love this strider, but the head sculpt is not that accurate. So I swap the head with Helm's deep aragorn and walla, I now have a perfect strider ;) I still display all nine fellowship on my cabinet.

This line brings lot of memories for me, this is what made me start on figures collecting, and from 6" i've move on to 12".

head sculpt looks fine to me. as for the helms deep aragorn, do you mean the later "improved" version? the later version has great sculpting but the only drawback is his arms stick out to the sides and down go down. other then that, looks amazing.
