I had most of the early pieces (in the original 'half moon' boxes) and sold them off to pay for the SS/Weta statues. I have kept a few pieces though, including 3 'Peter Jackson as a Hobbit' figures which seem to sell well. The horse and rider sets were a great idea with my favourite being Arwen on Asfloth with Frodo.

I am in the middle of stripping down my NECA Balrog for a re-fit and repaint so it can be a permanent display with the 'Balrog battle Gandalf'. Old 'Roggie certainly takes some dismantling and is a great figure! (locking the wing 'flaps' into his side was a pain though)

Hey guys...Lord of the Rings and Toybiz is what got me started into collecting...PERIOD!

It also inspired the creation of TheGD.com...my small contribution to the world of Middle-earth! It is/has been a labor of love for all things LOTR and Middle-earth...and it is only now starting to thrive, after 10 years. For a while, it was THE place to find Toybiz articles, imagery, etc. I can only hope it will be once again.

Anyway, back on topic...I LOVE the Epic Trilogy waves...and had they continued the line with the next couple of ANNOUNCED waves of Epic Trilogy...man, oh man! Easterling with Banner, Wildman of Dunland, Rosie Cotton! Would have been cool to see those in plastic. Wonder if someone (i.e. Jesse Falcon or Damon Nee) still has the prototypes?

head sculpt looks fine to me. as for the helms deep aragorn, do you mean the later "improved" version? the later version has great sculpting but the only drawback is his arms stick out to the sides and down go down. other then that, looks amazing.

I guess that's the one, in the red half moon packaging. I really like the sculpt on that one. I have to say, Toybiz really nail the sculpt with each releases. Sad to thing that TOybiz is no more...I enjoyed collecting their stuff, frm the marvel legends to other movie related figs such as the fantastic four

the helms deep aragorn im talking about is this one:

i LOVE there super-posable figures. they really improved the sculpting. this version is much more "handsome" sculpt while the first release one in the ring box was a little more ugly lol. the articulation is great but his arms dont go down which is the oly drawback. i wish there was a way to fix that.

also, anyone who had the "there and back again" box set that came with all the hobbits (when they go to the grey havens) notice that the frodo figure actually has his finger missing??? cuz gollum bit it off at mount doom. i noticed this while ago and thought that was such a sweet little detail.

Yup! I thought that was a nice little touch as well. I have that box set still in it's packaging, thought it was too nice to 'unwrap' (so to speak).

I've got Treebeard displayed with Pippin and Merry sitting on the top branches. They Look fantastic.

Treebeard has an excellent sculpt.

I never got into this line but I did pick up a few pieces. Also have the Fellbeast (still in the box) and a lose Frodo. I also have the...

"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" Gandalf. :D I always joked about the volume on that thing! :lol :lol :lol

I was quite sad when they canceled the line before the last of the figure announcements were made. I would have loved to have gotten my hands on those. There's even a few I'd still love to get my hands on today of ones that were released, but I think it's fruitless at this point.

What scale are these? 1:13?

I am fairly certain that I remember reading...a long time ago...that the scale is intended to be 1:12. Being a 6' man being 6" tall in the toy line.

I seem to remember that the question came up when there was debate over why the figures of the Elves were taller than the figures of the men and it was explained that Elves are intended to be considerably taller than men and the whole scale of the line was written about.

what i really need is a super-posable gandalf the grey, been wanting one for a long time.

also, i believe gothmog was the only "regular" figure that had to be like 7-7 1/2 inches tall. one badass figure though, and one of the most accurate sculpts.

These started my toy-collecting sickness. I have all the Toy Biz figures with the exception of TTT Travelling Bilbo and Red Box Arwen and Asfolath. Must be somewhere in the 175 count range. Love these figs.
