These were amazing figures considering the price and the detail that you got. I shudder to think what will happen with HOBBIT figures. I count myself lucky to have a full collection of all of them - plus bought about sixty more that my grandson played with.

I've been trying to pick up a helm's deep gift set. Sometimes they go pretty cheap on ebay. I missed the set loose for like 15 dollars the other day. Big kick in the ass.

Fremen, there are about 175+ carded figs from the three movies including the larger boxed sets (four-7 figs a pack)

Yikes! I really don't want to think about how many I must have then. I have every one they made and at the time it was cheaper to just buy the figures by the case than individually plus I did some army building with them (I think I had/have over 100 orcs/urks alone). Again yikes!

What are the best sets to get?
The 'Rider and Steed' sets were excellent and include:
Aragorn + Brego
Ringwraith + Steed (with galloping action and red eyes)
Arwen + Frodo + Asfaloth
Gandalf the White + Shadow fax
Legolas + (can't remember name)
Sharku + Warg
Mouth of Sauron + Steed (in the Black gate deluxe set)
Ringwraith + Fellbeast.
The fellbeast is pretty well done but it is way undersized.
If you are putting up any displays it would be good to put one of the small A.O.M.E. (armies of middle earth) ringwraith on the fellbeast.

For my collection...my thinking is to get the helm's deep set to take care of gimili, legolas, and aragorn. Then I'd wanna pick up a wring wraith and morgul. Maybe gandalf the grey and a Urakhai. Then I think I'd have all my favorite bases covered.

That is the case for the Gauntlet. I picked it up today for 30 bucks. Someone stole the gauntlet from this guys store.

That Mouth of Sauron figure from the Black Gates set was fantastic. I had a thread about a year ago with my Toybiz LOTR figures for sale, and sold the set back then. Besdies a bunch of loose figures, I still have like six boxed Ringwraiths, and the FAO Schwartz exclusive Fellowship set with cloth Lothlorian cloaks.
