i just wanted to say that everyone who has posted photos of the lotr toy biz line very amazing :hi5: ........or any lord of the rings stuff

Not dolls dude...ACTION figures. And Toybiz was masterful at creating true ACTION figures with most of their LOTR line...heck even their Marvel Legends line was very ACTION oriented.

Superposeable figures with tons of detail, articulation, and accessories...now that is a line that anyone is sure to love!!

It wasn't just the articulation either, it was the scale. The 6" scale was PERFECT for this line.

It's a shame there isn't...since the demise for the spectacular Green Dragon an online rescource/photo acrhive.

Yes, thegd was great. I just got restarted there and then bye-bye.

TheGD may rise again from the ashes...with some help from its friends.

The key for The Green Dragon to get started again is fan interest and TIME. I don't have as much time as I did in the past and am hoping that I get enough FAN interest to snag some folks to help build it back to it's glory days. I just don't have enough time to administer all the sections, take pictures, edit pictures, post pictures, etc.

To be honest, I am teetering at the moment simply because I know what I WANT TheGD to be and not sure I can follow through...

I hope it works out for you Geb and the Dragon. I did so love your site and all the work you put into it. You gave me much happiness and brightened up my day many times when I found sneak preview looks at upcoming toys. You helped me build a collection by alerting me to stuff that kept me haunting various toy store aisles. You performed a valuable service and please know your efforts are greatly appreciated.

If you can do it again for the HOBBIT films - it would be amazing.

ive only just stumbled upon an online Etailer that is selling these figures that have obviously much sold out.
Some of the figures on there are pretty pricey, some are quite cheap.
but most importantly if anything,i have found that more figures were made that i had no idea about...e.g..Gandalf Stormcrow,Frodo with Journal, the Orc Lieutenant and an alternate version of Eowyn from the filmed cave sequence that still hasn't seen the light of day cept in the Costa Botes behind the scenes footage.
So stoked!!!
Would be good if ToyBiz can do figures from the Hobbit movie(s).

That pretty much is never going to happen...since Toybiz is no longer...but perhaps Hasbro will dive in.

In all honesty...I don't think anyone out there will do the line justice the way Toybiz did LOTR...economies and hard times have killed the collecting business.

just found that a company called The Bridge will be responsible for making the toys and all associated things for The Hobbit movies.
All will be released closer to the movie release date.
AWESOME news...and i hope the action figures are in scale to the toybiz line!!

Personnally, in reading the press release...this is some very sad news indeed. When they say BASIC action figures...that tells me ZIZZLE styles 3-3/4 inchers...

This company has absolutely NO history...the same company that makes Zhu Zhu pets for pete's sake. They also produce the Justin Beiber dolls...and if those are the 'COLLECTOR' figures mentioned in the press release...uh oh indeed!

Geb

EDIT: Well...after some additional research...it seems that some of the old Toybiz folks are at the HELM of this company...so I guess I can hold out some hope...but the sculpting better be good and in scale with the original figures.

Timed to reach consumers prior to the December 14, 2012 release of the first film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Bridge will debut a multi-category toy line. The battle begins with Basic Action Figures, Adventure Packs, Beast Packs, and highly detailed Collector Figures. Fans can become real-life heroes with premium role play items including a Basic Sting Sword, a Basic Orcrist Sword, a Dwarven Battle Axe, and a Deluxe Sting Sword that features a blue glow just like in the film, bringing the thrill and the fantasy of the two films to life. The Bridge will reveal the 2012 product line to key retail partners in the coming weeks.

The encouraging bit is the differentiation of basic action figures from highly detailed collector action figures. I'm envisioning the distinction between the UK Harry Potter 3 3/4 action figures and those made for the US audience (more plastic statues) for the latest films.
