Lucas calls SM3 "silly"

I thought that the story was overcoming the darkness (Carl Jung's "shadow") within us all.

Oh George, hold me like you did by the lake on Naboo, when all we had was our love. No argument, you certainly know "silly".

The prequel trilogy might have seemed superficially silly at times, but Palpatine's machinations were a pretty sophisticated subplot. The PT needs to be seen as a whole, so some episodes look weak on their own. I reckon ROTS was up there with the OT though - pure brilliance.

Three words: Conan Antonio Motti
Whozat?

I agree Outlander. That's why I had to use AOTC by itself because when viewing the trilogy as a whole its much better and when combining it with the OT its tops. To me anyways, but I'm a huge Star Wars nerd. Plus I would say both are the weakest link in both series so that makes it a little bit more fair. I have to say I prefer TPM and ROTS over S-M3 but that could well be a Star Wars bias on my part.

GL appeared on the Conan O' Brien show a week ago, and they played a trivia on him, attempting to stump him. The answer to the question being Admiral Motti, Lucas answered "Conan Antonio Motti" in a rather serious manner, which has sparked debate on its canon-icity. I think that's downright silly. :lol

I actually preferred AOTC to TPM, but I'll admit it did have some pointless aspects: the whole assassination plot, and the droid factory sequence, which felt like an afterthought they threw in in case it could be used for a video game.

It was great to see Anakin begin his descent and Obi vs Jango though.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!!! Rami vs. Lucas fist fight! Lucas can't talk silly, 3 words JAR-JAR-BINKS

Whether you like him or not, he's silly.

Sadly, I kinda agree with him.... :monkey2

Me too. But I think thats more because Spider-man is a cross over franchise where as Star Wars was cinematic from inception to box office.

That being said, I think his tongue was slight "in cheek: when he said that.

The movie/plot/outline is not dependent on Jar Jar. George wasn't giving a character by character analysis of who is silly and who isn't. Lucas was talking about the over arch of plot from start to finish.

I havn't seen SM3 yet but when the Sandman is on screen does anybody say this....

"I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth"

I still wouldn't talk if I were Lucas, SM3 is just as "silly" as any Lucas venture. I'll always love OT Star Wars more, but the Spidey saga I like more than the PT. Midichloriens (or whatever), Jar Jar, Entire Naboo scene between Anakin and Amidala, all silly and did nothing for the over all story. I'd say Midichloriens took AWAY from the story.

But it's still funny/ballsy for Lucas to just say that. I mean, in Hollywood people take crap like that and spin it to death. Luckily Lucas and Rami both seem cool enough to have good heads about it all.

Definately. Really the whole idea of acting is kind of silly. :monkey5

I agree. So far the Spider-Man movies have nothing stupid anough to rival that stuff.

Maybe that why he said it? He doesn't live in Hollywood. So I guess its kinda like Collector Freak making jabs at things behind a computer screen.

The droid factory was an afterthought, in the special features they talk about it how they just came up with the idea one day, then they made a pre-viz video and then they shot it in half a day. It doesn't even help the plot.

But I still like AOTC because of the Speeder Chase.

Spider-Man stuff is supposed to be kind of silly, although the movies try to make things more believable, like how Doc Ock was created since he doesn't really have a super power. SM3 is just a little less believable than the first two.
