Well P, wouldn't you know it. Of all my Luke pix, only the "nude" Luke managed to get posted on Rebelscum. Those scummers... :google

Dude, I totally knew something like that would happen, that thread page was starting get a little Brokeback...

Btw, Great job with the alterations and thanks for the effort and advice you provided for all of us to share.

I'm just gonna use undershorts on him, uh-oh, here we go again!

im gonna find some 1/6th scale victorias secret lingerie for my luke.

LOL, those RS tools are even making photochops of the body lol.

Man, I would really like too see some of these folks put out their own figure line.

Sideshow just can't win at RS. They take the trouble to make a shorter body that fits Luke's stature, and they still get hosed. Ironically, if they had released Luke on a regular body, I doubt anyone would have said anything....

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

I just spoke with SS CS and they said the Warehouse is CLOSED till the middle of next week and will not be shipping any more Lukes until it re-opens.

In fact, SS won't be shipping anything until it re-opens.

This is not a joke. I was advised by Erin (who I adore btw)

Bad news. Sorry, P.

I am soooooooooo happy I slipped in under the wire.

I just went on the RS boards and someone actually complained that Luke doesn't look good naked, and suggested that if Mattel can make Ken look half-way decent nude, SSC should be ale to do the same. SSC compared unfavorably to a Ken doll, for God's Sake!!!!!!:google :horror

Well someone that has Luke naked on the shelf all the time has problems.

Luke has clothes, hell he comes with lots of cloths. So put them on.

Dragon, BBI, Hot Toys. All look horrible naked.

I saw that too... if the guy wants to pose his Luke naked more power too him.

Okay very weird but I got my Ex. Luke today!
(I don't own a camera so no pics from me.)
I was waiting most of the day for Fed Ex to show up until I got feed up with waiting, called it quits and decided to watch Return of the Jedi.
As I'm watching just when Luke shows up in person for the first time at Jabba's Palace, there's a nock at the door from Fed Ex (at 7:30 PM). So my Luke figure appeared at my door the same exact time Luke appeared at Jabba's Door. :google

-The package looks great, I haven't had time to read all the info on it but it worked out very well.
-My first impression is that Luke's head is just too big. It's about the same size as Sideshow's other 12" figure heads which are a little over sized to begin with but on a short body it's quite obvious. The likeness is great, the expression however doesn't really work for action poses.
-The paint on the head and accessories is very well done. Excellent work from Sideshow.
-His leather belt with metal fasteners, plastic pouch, and plastic lightsaber hook is wonderfully done.
-The metal wires in his hood and shirt flap work very well, but on mine the metal wire is sticking out of his shirt, easy fix though. His shirt and pants are a one piece jumpsuit with footses. It's nicely done.
-The basic figure underneath is not great. His arms are too long, and those ugly Sideshow hip joints that I've always hated screwed up the outline of the jumpsuit. The suit is tight and has a tendency of Bunching up in that area. Quick fix with some TP and it looks okay now.
-The new wrist pegs work all right, the hands go on and off a little too easily (that is they fall of when posing). I wish Sideshow would start using Ball jointed wrists.
-At first I didn't like the boots so I planned way in advance to switch them out with a pair from Newline Miniatures. They also don't work all that well. They're a little too bulky and mine are very wrinkled so I think I'll switch them back too Sideshow's boots. :(
-The lightsabers, all the hands, and accessories look great. The Ex. Blaster is plastic and is nicely detailed. I prefer Luke with his lightsaber though. In case somebody didn't notice from the pictures online, both of Luke's Lightsabers have a metal loop to allow you to hang it off his belt.

In the end I really like this figure as a whole. The thing I like the least is the head size. His expression could be better but works fine in standing poses.
Now, back to finish Return of the Jedi! :D

What is it with the dolls and no clothes? I played with my Barbies when I was young and only removed the clothes to change outfits. However, my brother constantly took her clothes off. Must be a guy thing.

is it just me or does there seem to be a great difference in pain? Luke looks pasty in some and very well done and lifelike in others:

and awesome here:

what gives?

those look like the same pics to me....

*edit* nevermind i guess u made a mistake and fixed it. well if u look at the top pic....you can see that a flash was used by looking at the box in the back. the flash is what drowns out the minute details and gives him a "flat" pasty look.

thanks! Thats what I thought, But i just had to ask to be sure theyre all awesome. I think I may hv to breakdown and get this one, and Im trying to get out of/limit my 1/6 collection.

In fact if anyone is interested I be interested in selling two figures for one Luke. They would be New Nighytmare Freddy and Michael Myers(customized).

you're being a little unfair there, the discussion was about the length of the forearms, not the nude figure as a whole.

And they were right, forearms are supposed to be the same length as the upper arm. It's a basic human anatomy thing... and so using that thinking... the ken doll was indeed better, as it had the correct length forearms.

I'm not saying the ken doll IS a better figure, that would be mad... but then, neither were they over at the RS forums. But then you'd know that if you bothered to read it?

(oh and if you want to learn a little about 1/6 scale figures, I suggest to go to some dedicated 1/6 forums where every figure manufacaturer is discussed, not just Sideshow, along with fabulously intricate customs.... )

I did "bother to read it", thank you very much. I understand the argument over human anatomy and the length of the forearms being the point of concern. I also understand that, anatomically correct (Ken?) or not, there is no respectable way to compare a Ken body, which has six points of articulation (less than most modern 4" figures), hands to small to hold anything but Barbies purse, an inability to stand on his own or hold any pose except "Mr. Roboto," with the Sideshow body, which has over 30 points of articulation, can hold just about any pose, and has detailed hands that can hold just about anything! I take issue with the RS thread in terms of the general lack of perspective that seems to run rampant on those forums. The fact is, and I am aware of just about EVERY 1/6 scale body on the market (thanks again), the Sideshow body is the most "bang-for-your-buck" armature on the market today, and all this niggling over what amounts to a tiny problem with a superb body is laughable when you compare it to the ridiculous body-types we as collectors have been subjected to in the past. Or do I have to remind you of the first bodies that Hasbro gave us for their Star Wars line. The ones that couldn't even hold a lightsaber with both hands, never mind getting a finger through a trigger, or legs in a kneeling, or even a sitting position.
Or the newer Hasbro bodies, which never account for the actual height of the character (Dooku was shorter than Luke!), had arms that were actually too short, and limbs that couldn't bend past 85 degrees.
And the reason, I believe, that there is no thread discussing every 1/6 body under the sun is because this is SIDESHOW FREAKS!!! We generally prefer Sideshow bodies over others. And rightly so.
There's no context in which comparing a Ken doll favorably against a Sideshow figure of any type can be considered anything but laughable, and it just shows how stupid some people are about this hobby. If anyone out there would like your Luke transfered to a Ken body, just let me know! I'll be glad to do it for you!!
I've been customizing 1/6 scale for over 10 years. I've seen every body that comes down the pike, both the Japanese custom-builds, and the cheapest of cheap knock-offs, and I can honestly say that of all these, the best for the money has always been Sideshow.
I think it'd be loverly if every figure could have a gorgeous Volks body underneath, but I'd also like to be able to pay the rent. Personally, I'm excited at the prospect of the shorter male body for some figures. I think it adds to the realism and depth of the line, and it's a relatively new concept that Sideshow, more than any other company, has taken and run with it. They're giving us several different body-types to choose from, and that's a wonderful thing that they certainly don't have to do to sell figures.

While they're complaining about anatomy, why don't they mention that Sideshow neglected to give Luke a penis? He almost certainly has one! He did father a child after all! I mean, my God, the crotch area lacks any definition whatsoever. At lest Ken has some sculpted tighty-whiteys! Why not Luke? What a travesty!

that's the point... they weren't comparing the bodies, they were comparing the length of the forearms.

Lighten up.

The arms look fine. I'm 6'4" and my fingertips stop a few inches above my knees. The figures look fine.

Comparing SS to a Ken doll lol, that is just too funny. Hell, they should just stick with the original Kenner 12" dolls then.

If you want to nitpick, how about that Medicom Vader where they just put some inserts in his boots to make him taller, they didnt make the arms longer or torso longer as should be. Slacking off on a high $$$ figure is fine for them though right?

Apples and oranges, Hunky.

And I don't have to lighten up. I'm a fanatic. :moon
