It does. It's good that there are remarkably few of them. My sole concern is people who consider their opinion to be so goddamned precious that they lose any capacity for baseline decency whenever they feel the compulsion to express it.

Agreed KD and Rorywan....great posts.
I think it would certainly benefit SSC to show production pics before product is released....cannot understand why they do not. From a purchasing standpoint, I'm not a fan of just seeing one really nice proto pic, then nothing other than photoshopped images until release (I'm thinking of the Han / Luke Hoth figures, pictured in action poses in the snow)...rather just see it unaltered on a shelf. At least then I would feel like I'd made a more informed decision and be more happy with that decision as a result. Patiently waiting to see how Indy will turn out.

King, Rory and Ben said it all. Sideshow is either incapable or unwilling to deliver a product worthy of the asking price.

Jango Fett was my breaking point, I was thrilled when I opened him and saw the solid (still not top-end, but quite good) paint work on the Exclusive head. But then as soon as I picked him up armor bits fell off and continued to fall off until I put him back in the box. Stupid decisions lead to a completely disappointing figure.

At least at $220 he came with a ton of accessories and a complicated outfit. This Luke is insulting at $240; and even if he turned out as good as the proto (which he did not) he was a $200 figure at the absolute most.

I don't think that Sideshow's sculpts ever look as bad in the plastic as they do in photos - though I never got Nathan Drake to test that theory out.

If anything Drake looked worse in-hand... it was a severely butchered sculpt on an otherwise great release. And it's not the fault of the original sculpt; Trevor knocked it out of the park. But in order to make the ridiculous eye system work they did a really poor alteration of the hair line and then used a faceplate that was not only misaligned behind the eyes, but distended the jawline making him look bloated.

It was a product that should never have been delivered to customers.

Will have the ex in on Monday. cautiously optimistic about this one. thou I though Jango was really good and did not have really any big issues with mine.

No, no that wasn't it. I'd explain what it was but how about go **** yourself instead?

Well, at least you're an adult about it. :lol

QMX is another American company that was having trouble with getting the quality they wanted from Chinese factories. In producing their Mal Reynolds figure they changed factories on the recommendation of another major player in the industry. The last I heard they were still looking at commissioning someone else to produce another head sculpt because they admitted it wasn't up to standard they were happy with.

I would pay money to get the full story on that one.

Whoa ppl telling eachother to F themselves on here? Pretty sure theres rules about that lol

It would make for interesting reading!

You're in that thread so you know the story so far.

It was supposed that the major player who recommended the factory was Sideshow...

Darklord Dave said:
It hasn't been mentioned, but a couple of the guys from Sideshow now work at QMx, so there's little worry that this won't be a quality 1/6 figure.

Pre-ordered and paid for Mal back in June 2014, and was looking forward to building the crew of Serenity. At this rate none of us would live long enough to wait for them all!

Whatever the reason, titles titles titles
Now I need a nap. All those words.,.....:monkey4

Cliff Notes - Sideshow Sucks - Hawt Toys delivers

I don't understand how different the production Luke head shape is from the proto. Backyard customizers here reproduce their sculpts almost exact. SS should be able as well.

The paint looks good. The outfit is amazing looking. The cost for what you get is still laughable.

At least Tie looks great. :)

Yup. But that doesn't speak to how good or bad the figure is. Not matching the prototype doesn't make the figure garbage. People on these boards are excessive with their negativity when given the chance and it's just ******. All I'm saying. People don't need to be so rotten.

Or maybe they do. Ducks walk and quack.

Rotten? That is the internet. Rag all over something they like and their tone changes just as fast.

I agree.

Just out of curiosity, how many of those companies are based in the U.S.?

I think Sideshow is it for 1/6 mixed media figures.

I am really curious what the royalty rate is for their licenses. When I had a license through GM, it was 10%. Sideshow and others act like its around 25-30% which is absurd.

This week i canceled my preorder, i do it this year when no Luke figure of HT. At this time i think the figure is very expensive and less accesories. Waiting for productions pictures and discounts, or buy the HT Luke.

Have high hopes still, but the SSC looks nothing like Luke. Hopefully it will while wearing the helmet.

Actually, I was thinking the exact opposite. I think the SS one with the hair on looks more like Luke. If the eyes weren't painted so cartoon-y (with outlines around everything!), then I would give this round to SS no doubt.

And geez, Chi-lenn Wong! You can afford $240+ action figures. Go buy a decent freaking camera! :lol
